Polls show the majority (60%) of the country favors access to to legal abortion, but to a limited degree.

Even in deep red states, most people believe abortion should be “generally” legal for the first trimester. Support drastically drops off after the first trimester. This is where I am.

I believe Louisiana’s law is outside of the will of the people, and therefore outside of the federalist construct of our Nation.

I personally believe abortion after the first trimester should be limited to only the most rare medical necessities. A near-total ban on abortion is on the other extreme end of the spectrum than what liberals want.

Extremes rarely work well, for either side.

This has nothing to do with abortion, but polls are useless in 2022.

Then run to be a State Representative or Senator on that platform and get the law changed.

If your opinion is so popular then it should be easy.

THAT is the beauty of our system of government that the RvW eliminated by fiat.

Louisiana’s trigger law is not a total ban on abortion. 99% of this board has no idea what it’s talking about 100% of the time.

The Dems had a super majority a number of times. If THEY WANTED TO, the could’ve gotten enough Rs on board and passed a law allowing abortion if they were willing to compromise on time (less than 20 wks or something like that) but they didn’t and here we are.

There was a time when most people favored slavery too. We need to do what is right not what is popular.

So on day 91 of development it is a baby but on day 90 it is not a baby. Great consistency there.

WTF is this word salad supposed to mean? Louisiana’s law is literally federalism in action. If it gets replaced or amended, same thing.
