No wonder it failed
The bill could be amended during during a full floor vote right?

Maybe, but not all change is good.

Believe it or not, some teachers actually really care about their students and want them to do well.
Agreed.

Research has shown over and over that forming a good relationship with students produces much better results overall.
You can have a good relationship with student (or anyone for that matter) and remain professional and keep your personal life out of it. This is not an either/or situation. This has become a choice that teachers make to reveal this information unnecessarily.

Seems like you would be very happy with just online classes taught by a recording though.
I'd be happier if teachers did the job for which they were hired, and saved talk about their personal lives for their friends, family, other adults, etc.

We don't need teachers to be our kids buddies, pals or friends.
Teach them the R's, dammit!!!

When I was in school (1970s - early 1980s), our teachers kept their personal lives to themselves. It was none of our business. And guess what? The educations we received were just fine and dandy.

No wonder it failed. Why not just keep it exactly like the Florida bill? That’s why the Florida bill passed with bipartisan support and why LA’s couldn’t even get out of committee. Stupid move.
That's what I was thinking, dude. It almost sounds like another one of those bills that are intentionally written so that they won't pass. There is an election coming up, after-all....got to have some material for the campaign commercials!

We took sex ed in middle school at a Catholic school. Do public schools have sex ed then and would this have done away with it?

And if we asked, they'd tell us to mind our business and get back to work.
Somehow I managed without knowing who they were banging every weekend...

So hearing about my teachers' sex lives and relationships would have gotten me better grades? Who knew

Well, at least you know which GOPers support grooming for next election.

Quit calling it “Don’t say gay”. That is what it was named by the left in order to discredit it. It is not representative of what is in the bill, which is Anti Groomer, and that’s just what we should be calling it.
You have capitulated to the MSM!

Anyone who loves their children doesn't send them to Louisiana public schools anyways
If you "love your child" you would be involved in their school enough to know what they are teaching or not teaching.

Good. Passing that may have kept businesses from investing in Louisiana

I have no problem with teachers keeping their mouths shut about their sexual orientation period, whether gay or straight.
It has no bearing on the curriculum.
It has no bearing on the curriculum.

Who is the genius author of this Bill? I want to call him and laugh and berate .

I have no problem with it either. I just don’t think we need a law banning teachers from saying anything that “has no bearing on the curriculum.” By that standard, the teacher couldn’t say Who Dat, or Go Tigers, or Roll Tide, or War Eagle, etc etc on a Monday morning after a big win.
I’m 100% for a law written like the Fla law. I think the LA bill was written to fail. If you want to blame someone, blame the author of the bill for playing politics instead of protecting the children.

Or maybe no one their age wants to hear their sob stories so they lay it on children who dont know any better.
Who knows?
GTFO with this shite. If you care about a student, you focus on their academics, not sexual orientations.
