That wasn't very liberal of you.

I don’t know if you fully appreciate how many times I have been hit up for money.

By this logic plantation slaves were paid because they were given housing and food/clothing

GOOD FOR LOUISIANA!

I'm sickened why I travel to cities with homeless populations.

They are a plague on cities. Nothing but trashy vagrants, their presence brings down property values and places a strain on local services & resources. They loiter at intersections, wearing dirt pathway on the medians, leave their trash all over. This used to not be a problem in larger cities in Alabama until the ACLU won a lawsuit that allowed them freedom to roam in some cities.

They can be homeless, they just can't set up camp on public property nor trespass on private property.

If you truly feel strongly against this, allow them to camp in your yard and/or take a few randos from under an overpass into your home.

Two things:

Louisiana would be very close to being net even without Federal funding if we were allowed to keep the revenue from offshore drilling. Considering that, it makes us more of a neutral state than a taker, but that never gets pointed out by people like you.

The majority of our shortfall is due to welfare programs, once you throw Medicaid into the mix.

Around 800K people get SNAP every month in LA. That is nearly 1/4th of our population.

quote:

Louisiana also has higher overall poverty and SNAP participation (~17–19% of the population vs. ~12% national). Black Louisianians have substantially higher poverty rates than White Louisianians, so Black recipients almost certainly make up a larger share of SNAP recipients in Louisiana than the national 26% figure

If you are for eliminating welfare to balance our budget, then you have my full support but that might get you called a racist

One of the biggest lies in the current discourse, is that homelessness is caused by a lack of housing.

It’s not caused by a lack of housing or money. 99 percent of it is caused by drugs and mental illness.

church has basically ruined a large shopping area here. They’re well-meaning when they offer their church as a shelter during extreme heat or cold and run a food bank, but what it’s led to is the entire homeless population of Lake Charles swarming that shopping center and hurting businesses. A lot of them are addicts, too. I’ve had a few run-ins with them, even though I try

If the pastor and his congregation really want to help they could relocate to a distressed neighborhood. They wont do that, theyd rather draw all the trouble into a better part of town because they would feel unsafe to actually move among these poor lost souls

LW church likes to virtue signal above all else. It gets them on the news with every storm that rolls through LC.

Or we could say maybe just maybe charge corporations property tax

Also Medicaid shortfalls are typically made up for with federal funds that this state has repeatedly rejected. Money that was already allocated by the federal government

This state has a much larger issue with allowing corporations to pillage it for minimal returns.

While O&G don't really need the credits, thus should not be getting them, they do provide thousands and thousands of jobs as well as a much-needed service. Homeless, however, provide neither.

You disingenuous commie piece of shite… those whacked out homeless turds harass, threaten, and attack, and even murder people all over the country daily. frick them and frick you. What that bill proposes is much nicer than what I and millions of other American tax payers would like to see done to most of them.
