The City of Seattle held a training session for white employees called “Interrupting Internalized Racial Superiority and Whiteness.”

So I did a public records request to find out exactly what this means. Let's go through it together in this thread.

quote:

First, diversity trainers informed white participants that "objectivity," "individualism," "intellectualization," and "comfort" are all vestiges of internalized racial oppression.

quote:

Sometimes both sides of the coin are "oppression."

Are white employees speaking too much? That's probably the internalized racial superiority of "imposition" or "paternalism."

Are white employees speaking too little? That's oppression, too, because "silence" is "violence."

etc.

Did Goldilocks write this? Not too much, not too little. It's gotta be just right.

I guess this is their way of opening up civil service jobs for minorities and lefties. Because no one else wants to sit through this shite.

I don't know. You might be surprised at the capacity for non-sensical self-flagellation.

It’s the classic ‘blame whitey for whatever he does’ route.

Whites leave town? White flight
Whites move to town? Gentrification

Whites don’t see color? Willful blindness
White see color? Racist

Substitute Black, Asian, Hispanic, etc. for “white” and tell me how folks would react. Oh, that’s right, if something targets whites it cannot be racist (or at least those are the rules as I understand them).

This program was probably written by a liberal white woman who talks too much, so I can't really disagree on that part.

Revelation 13:17 King James Version (KJV)

17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

I read this last night, it's insane.

Some key points:

- Typical "aspects of white supremacy" language which includes objectivity, individualism, silence, etc. In other words, any normal liberal concepts are part of a white supremacist system.

- Pure Robin Diangelo shite on complicity. Racism isn't your fault but you're responsible. You're either actively working to be anti-racist (and all that entails) or if you shrug it off, you're part of a racist system. You can't be neutral, it's not allowed.

- To be anti-racist, you have to give up comfort and guaranteed physical safety. In practice, you can't call 911 when a black guy points a gun at you because the cops might kill him (real example from MN).

- As mentioned, you can't be neutral, so you have to actively work to undo your whiteness.

This stuff seems extreme. It's not. It's put into everyday language in White Fragility, which is a best selling book. I absolutely guarantee you it's being pushed at regional schools where 20 year old women who want to be teachers are adopting it wholesale and will be promoting it in your public school classrooms (even in the Southeast).

Do not let any of these concepts get to your kids. They're vile weeds. I expect clueless teachers will accuse parents of not wanting to expose their children to a multitude of ideas, which is bullshite. This stuff opposes the concept of differing ideas. It's an absolutist system that teaches self-loathing and that white children are irredeemable on account of their whiteness.

Taibbi has been on a mission to destroy this narrative:

quote:

A core principle of the academic movement that shot through elite schools in America since the early nineties was the view that individual rights, humanism, and the democratic process are all just stalking-horses for white supremacy. The concept, as articulated in books like former corporate consultant Robin DiAngelo’s White Fragility (Amazon’s #1 seller!) reduces everything, even the smallest and most innocent human interactions, to racial power contests.

It’s been mind-boggling to watch White Fragility celebrated in recent weeks. When it surged past a Hunger Games book on bestseller lists, USA Today cheered, “American readers are more interested in combatting racism than in literary escapism.” When DiAngelo appeared on The Tonight Show, Jimmy Fallon gushed, “I know… everyone wants to talk to you right now!” White Fragility has been pitched as an uncontroversial road-map for fighting racism, at a time when after the murder of George Floyd Americans are suddenly (and appropriately) interested in doing just that. Except this isn’t a straightforward book about examining one’s own prejudices. Have the people hyping this impressively crazy book actually read it?

DiAngelo isn’t the first person to make a buck pushing tricked-up pseudo-intellectual horseshite as corporate wisdom, but she might be the first to do it selling Hitlerian race theory. White Fragility has a simple message: there is no such thing as a universal human experience, and we are defined not by our individual personalities or moral choices, but only by our racial category.

If your category is “white,” bad news: you have no identity apart from your participation in white supremacy (“Anti-blackness is foundational to our very identities… Whiteness has always been predicated on blackness”), which naturally means “a positive white identity is an impossible goal.”

Who sits around and makes up all of these woke words? Colorism, exaggerated visibility, etc, etc?

Who ever has "anti-blackness" is screwed. They fall into both Internalized Racial Superiority AND Internalized Racial Inferiority. Gosh, can you imagine the internal turmoil they have to deal with? Must be unbearable.

The email screen shot is great....invite City Employees who "identify as white"...FFS.

You want a job in CA, you gotta write a diversity statement, which is basically an acknowledgement that you will treat non-whites special and not equal. In a university-setting, this means I would treat students differently, based on their race and/or gender. That means other students could and should file grade appeals, based on discrimination. If the rich people leave CA, that state is F$%CKED.

There’s a thin layer of society keeping us from actually being at each other’s throats

Who would’ve thought the left would’ve taken off the masks this quickly?

I’m internalized mediocrity personified.

I also subscribe to the vicious apathy of the the cis-heteropatriarchy. I am unable to escape my franchisement or stop putting mayonnaise on a Chick-fil-A sandwich. This is because I subconsciously own billions of slaves. I cannot do anything about any of this because of my fragility.
