Local hardware store is always a little more expensive than Lowe’s or Home Depot, but it’s convenient and I had to get the dog from the vet across the street. A bag of 13-13-13, bag of lime, and a bag of iron for the garden: $86. Owner said everything skyrocketed with the Iran War. Said it will most likely continue to climb.

A 40 pound bag of 13-13-13 has been $20-25 for the last couple of years, around 2023 fertilizer cost skyrocketed and my deer food plots have been getting about half the amount they normally get.

I am glad we are not in a serious conflict.

Today people bitch and moan about gas and fertilizer. How would they cope with being drafted to fight a war for national survival?

Weak. Utterly weak.

Fertilizer costs have caused many farmers to switch to more soybeans rather than corn this year

They’d cope better if we were actually attacked and had to go to war imo

Fertilizer went up when the Ukraine war started. Seems that area was a big supplier

He’s wrong

Fertilizer has skyrocketed because of the Ukraine war

Look it up. There were warnings years ago.

No one listened

Or better yet

Cut all USAID and DOGE spending to 0 and make Congress live within its means

Seriously doubt $37 trillion dollars in debt is due to this ME dust up

Funny OP never made this thread when it was at an ATH in 2022-2023

FRED

BTW, it was $517 in February when the war started iand the next update is next Wednesday but in March it was at $524

If you look at 2024 until now you will see it was already clearly on the rise. Why?

Anyone can Google and learn why but OP has TDS and wants to blame the orange man

quote:

Here is a summary of why fertilizer prices have been rising since 2024:

Rising Natural Gas "Floor": Nitrogen production depends heavily on natural gas. As the U.S. increased its LNG export capacity in late 2024 and 2025, domestic gas prices faced upward pressure, raising the baseline cost for manufacturers.

Chinese Export Restrictions: Since 2024, China—the world’s top phosphate exporter—has repeatedly restricted exports to prioritize its own domestic supply, significantly tightening the global market.

Supply Chain Consolidation: Production is concentrated in a few key regions (Russia, China, Canada, and the Middle East). Policy shifts or logistical bottlenecks in any of these areas create immediate global price spikes.

Regulatory & Compliance Costs: New environmental regulations and carbon-reduction targets for manufacturers have added "hidden" costs to production that are passed down to farmers.

Inventory Lag and Labor: While some wholesale costs fluctuated, high labor and inland transportation costs in 2024 and 2025 kept retail prices from dropping back to pre-pandemic levels.

Has the war added to the increase in price? Yes, it has. Was it going up anyway due to LNG prices, China restricting exports, etc? Also yes

Average person will continue to be fleeced, but this is the price new shrinking MIGA coalition is willing to pay.

Those who say it is because of Russian war, that's partially correct. But the Gulf produces a lot of fertilizer and combing jump in cost of fuel and shortage of the fertilizer coming out of gulf it all coincides with even the higher spike in your other fertilizer. Basic supply/demand.

Whose fault is it that China is hogging its phosphate supply, causing prices to go up globally?

Why are so many of you such simpletons?

I shop my local ACE hardware because they are helpful when I need something specific like plumbing and electrical stuff but they are way more expensive for true bulk shite like Quickrete. Thinset or lumber. For that I’m making the drive to Lowe’s.

Sounds like you never took marcroeconomics or how a fertilizer is made. And you are the one calling me simpleton?

quote:

Yes, the Gulf states are a global powerhouse in fertilizer production. Because they have massive reserves of natural gas (the primary feedstock for nitrogen-based fertilizer), the region has evolved into one of the world's largest export hubs.?? Regional dominanceThe Gulf countries—primarily Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, Oman, and Bahrain—collectively control a significant portion of the global market:Nitrogen (Urea & Ammonia): The Gulf accounts for roughly 30–35% of all nitrogen fertilizers traded globally.Phosphate: Saudi Arabia is the second-largest regional exporter of phosphate-based fertilizers (DAP and MAP).Sulphur: The region produces nearly 25% of the world’s sulphur, a byproduct of oil and gas processing that is essential for making phosphate fertilizers.
