they desperately want to return to the days of Covid. it was an equalizer for these low lifes. everyone had to stay home, and the government had control. the government gave everyone money. they love the idea of the government just controlling our lives and providing everyone with a monthly check to live off of. nothing more was expected of them. they long for those days.
that’s the only reason i can think of. they would love for a pandemic to come back.

I asked a 70 year old African American man last week why he was wearing an N95 mask. He told me "COVID"

Asians have been into masks long before Covid 19

I can somewhat understand the Chinese folks that still wear the masks. Many of them have been conditioned to anticipate a new, deadly disease almost every year for decades. As for the others, I assume they're looking to commit crimes and don't want to get caught. I stay away from them.

That’s actually true, and it’s not really about politics or even COVID. In many Asian countries, wearing a mask is just a normal courtesy, like covering your mouth when you cough, but allows this more consistently. People wear them if they’re sick, during flu season, or even for things like pollen or air pollution. It’s less “I’m scared” and more “I don’t want to pass something to other people.” Once you see it that way, it’s kind of a low-cost, low-drama habit - doesn’t hurt anyone, might help someone.

Probably just as likely “I don’t want to catch anything from other people,” though, right?

Yes, it's got to be both. I vividly remember first noticing this different and unusual cultural practice (I grew up in Louisiana) on more than one home visit early in my career when I had first-gen immigrant asian patients and family don a mask without me asking for it when I arrived as a courtesy to me. Of course, they could have been worried that I'd give them something else as well, but I have continued to see this in the office too. First generation are much more likely to do it than 2nd-3rd gen Asians.

You’ve never worn one?
I do not believe you.
You didn’t enter a single store or restaurant in 2020?

Why did you bother the poor old man who was likely minding his own business?
Posted on 4/23/26 at 11:27 pm to cubsfan5150
No. I work at a hospital and we needed to remove the mask for a procedure.

It’s their business… mind yours

Precovid when the pollen was blowing in the wind like nuclear fallout I would sometimes wear a fishing gaiter to reduce how much ended up in my nose when I was using my backpack blower in the spring.
Post Covid I’ll forever opt to sneeze.

I never wore one except a few times at a funeral out of respect for the families. Stupidest shite.

mostly women you see wearing them now. And, I don't really care as long as it isn't forced upon me. I remember going into Target and a lady at a little kiosk by the door "offering" me a mask. I ignored her and heard her saying "Sir!, Sir!...". Mostly no one challenged it, though.

I don't eat out now unless I'm on the road. And back then I never ate out. I did go to the store on occasion but no, I never wore a mask not once.
I also didn't travel by plane either until they got rid of the mask mandate.

I can understand this. Though I will say, for all the panicking done for it, if Covid really was this bad, no one should be anywhere near another human being outside your family.
Guess what? The shite wasn't any worse than the common flu. Jesus Christ, people.

Virtue signaling and liberal uniform.

Sometimes people wearing a mask are doing it because they live with someone who is in a immune compromised condition often due to chemotherapy or other cancer treatment.
I did that.
So you can’t lump 100% of the mask wearing people in with the Covid Kooks.
It’s good to be aware of that. It could save you an awkward moment.
