The shooter should be in jail for a long, long time. Although, I could see a liberal Denver jury letting him run free due to the victim's political affiliation.

This is not conjecture dude you can't shoot someone if they slap and mace you.
1.) There were several other guys with the mace guy that seemed to be on his side. One had what appears to be a knife holstered. - Irrelevant. This is a fact, no one's life was in danger.
2.)The shooter can claim what he thought was in the mace guys hand was a knife or gun being raised at him and claim he never even realized it was mace. - He shot the guy after he was maced. Fact.
3.)The shooter can claim he was hired to protect the news journalist and that's all he was trying to do. The journalist appears to be the primary one recording the black guy screaming "Mace me". - Irrelevant. This is a fact, no one's life was in danger.
4.)The mace or the slap individually seems to me like not justification to shoot. When you put them both together I don't think the guy is going to prison. - If you put them both together it is still a not use of justifiable force.
