You guys are talking about a different thing than I am. You can support Ukrainian independence for political or ideological reasons, and you can oppose Russia for its military aggression or its system of government or its treatment of minorities or whatever. That is not what I’m talking about. I am talking about a very specific hatred of Russians for no other reason than because they are ethnic Russians. The majority of anti-Russian people are the first type, but there is definitely a minority that are the second type.

I hate Russia because of what Russia does. I don’t hate any Russian people other than Putin and his cohorts.
But the Russian people are responsible for Putin and they are going little to reel him in.
If you have Russian heritage good for you. I have German heritage and I blame Germans for the Nazis.
You need to nut up and challenge the Russian people to action.

Russia has a legitimate national security interest in not allowing a USA proxy regime to control Ukraine or Belarus for that matter.
USA has no interest in shitty Belarus (an unequivocal Russian proxy ) which offers nothing to the world. Kind of funny that all the countries in Russia’s orbit are economically and culturally moribund dumps, isn’t it?. God forbid countries like Estonia - or Ukraine/ don’t want to be affiliated with hellholes like Dagestan and would rather associate with Norway and not the Iranian-Russian axis that you support.

ANALYSIS: Ukrainian Intel Exposes Russia Helping Iran Target US Forces
Sept. 29, 2026, 7:09 am
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced that Kyiv’s intelligence services will begin sharing evidence of what he described as a highly coordinated military reconnaissance loop between Russia and Iran.
According to the intelligence, Moscow has utilized its network of spy satellites to monitor Gulf states and critical US military assets in the Middle East. These orbital passes directly correlate with the timing of Iranian drone and missile strikes.
Zelensky offered a striking example. In a 48-hour window between July 19 and 20 alone, four air bases fell squarely within the lens of active Russian satellite surveillance – two in Bahrain, one in Jordan and one in Kuwait.
The intelligence described by Kyiv points to a potentially sophisticated reconnaissance cycle: pre-attack satellite collection, tactical tracking imagery that could assist operational planning, and post-strike battle damage assessment.

Thanks for the response.
That answers why you put "Kyiv" in quotations. I take it you agree it should go back to the Russian spelling. I don't know any Ukrainians to know how much of the nation's population supports the spelling "Kyiv". Brief internet searching suggests support is high and that it isn't a effort to forget the Russian side but to fortify Ukrainian independence. That aside, what does you believing Kyiv and Odessa being culturally Russian have to do with the current situation in Ukraine?
Interesting if true. I doubt it comes to that, and taking Ukraine won't stop such a thing if it is to happen. If Western Europe believes a Russian proxy regime in control of Ukraine is a national security interest, who's in the right on that one? To me it comes down to a sovereign nation can choose who they want to align with.
That's a hard one for me to speak to since I'm not in touch with the Jewish community and I don't have hatred for the Russian people. They are stuck with who they are being led by. I'd argue the geopolitical decisions Russia has been making in the last few decades have not helped their image and unfortunately leads to some jumping from Russia is doing bad things to Russian people suck. I agree that jump is irrational, but it was inevitable to some degree.
I'm getting that impression. You largely didn't answer the questions, but I appreciate you offering insight into your way of thinking about the situation.

It’s a complicated question but I basically believe that most of eastern Ukraine, including “Kyiv” and Odessa, are culturally Russian.

I also believe that Russia has a legitimate national security interest in not allowing a USA proxy regime to control Ukraine or Belarus for that matter. I also believe that many in Washington and Brussels have a concrete strategic goal of breaking up the Russian Federation into a constellation of rump states so western corporations can control their natural resources.

Finally, I believe that a lot of irrational ethnic hatred of Russians is driven by diaspora Jews who grew up hearing stories from grandma about “the Russians” who burned down their village, not understanding that if you believe in the new paradigm of the “Ukrainian” ethnicity then it was Ukrainians, not Russians, who burned down their village. But back then they were considered the same thing.

He is stuck on the Tucker and other nutter claims. Ukraine wasn't interested in NATO until 2022. It did want to join the EU,

I don't know if that's the case. Nothing wrong with a different view even if I don't agree with it.

Every single oblast in Ukraine voted to leave the USSR, It wasn't even close. Russia will never be a great nation without Ukraine and that is the reason and the only reason Putin wants to conquer it.

Huh.
I wasn't aware that the Ukrainians have claimed to cut the bridge before. I was aware they had claimed that they were working on cutting the bridge, and that it was a goal - something that this post actually claims rather than they have actually done it - but not that it had been achieved. But hey, let's look at the map itself:
I don't know if this map is accurate, but let's for the sake of this discussion, say that it is. If so, I see actual significant changes in territory over the last month, something the Russians haven't achieved in almost four years of trying. If the highlighted green portion of that map is at all accurate, that the Ukrainians were able to take that amount of land in a month or two, then project that amount of change forward on a month-by-month basis.
If this rate keeps up, and I'm not saying it will, but if it does in a year or so Ukraine will have reached the Sea of Azov and the old Russian borders again.
