Former President Trump’s daughter-in-law Lara Trump hasn’t said whether she’ll run for retiring Sen. Richard Burr’s (R-N.C.) seat next year, but she already has an imposing presence in the race.

A poll obtained by The Hill on Tuesday shows Lara Trump with a double-digit lead over a crowded field of current and potential GOP Senate candidates in North Carolina. The survey, conducted by the GOP polling firm Cygnal, found her garnering 32.4 percent in an eight-way primary contest. She’s followed in second place by North Carolina Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson at 20.1 percent.

Only two other potential candidates, former Gov. Pat McCrory and former Lt. Gov. Dan Forest, notched double-digit support in the poll, scoring 14.2 percent and 12.7 percent respectively. Former Rep. Mark Walker (R-N.C.), the only candidate to have already announced a bid for Burr’s seat, finished fifth in the poll at 3 percent.

People were so dumb thinking Trump was toast in politics. Just having a Trump name gets you to the top of a GOP primary field these days.

Trump will be the Republican nominee in 2024 if he runs.

I really doubt she runs.

She just signed up for a Fox News contributor gig.

She would have to move back to North Carolina from NY.

It’s a two year commitment and that means a lot of time away from her young kids.

I’d vote for her.

GOP women politicians are often stronger than GOP male politicians.

Lara is actually the most likable Trump there is and the least offensive of them all. She would do really well in a campaign and would be a good Senator.

I just doubt she runs.

Trump needs to find someone to Challenge Rubio. I am sure someone will challenge him and get more votes then expected.

You’ll be disappointed. It’s a good endorsement and Rubio will keep the seat safe red with little to no trouble at all.

All's you have to do is have legal residency. Ask Hillary.

Lara's parents have lived in their home in Wrightsville Beach since before she was born. Eric may own a beach condo-or they could in a matter of hours.

She has a few nannies. She can fly into DC and do the job easily.

I wish she would run for President.

Trump acknowledged reality and admitted that there is no serious challenger to Rubio and Rubio's coalition of hispanic and black support along with usual GOP turnout in the sticks is a juggernaut that will win the election by comfortable margins and because of that, democrats will likely not put up a serious candidate against him.

Rubio outperformed Trump and won his senate race 8 points in 2016 while Trump won the state by 2 points against Clinton.

Rubio won 48% of the Hispanic vote and 17% of the African American vote during this election.

You're insane if you want to give up a candidate that can build a coalition like that, especially in a state is by no means a ruby red state even if its trending republican.

Rubio may not be a standard bearer but he's an asset to a governing majority.

2 years guaranteed through campaigning alone with 6 optional years contingent on voter approval.

So, 8 year commitment.
