Is LA the only state like this?
Almost every state has the collateral source rule. After the last tort reform bill, Louisiana’s version is worse for plaintiffs than the majority of states.

Jeff is a big government democrat disguised as a republican.

And like I keep trying to tell you Baws, benefits to the insurance industry do not help insureds. They will continue to charge ridiculously high premiums. Because they can.
You are a moron
Insurance carriers are simply a mirror reflecting the expected losses and the law of large numbers guides pricing. Simple fact is the expected losses for a vehicle in Louisiana are double that of a vehicle in Mississippi. So ta da the premiums are double.
If carriers could charge whatever they wanted and make a profit in Louisiana why are they leaving and most are literally refusing to take your money at any price.

The only way to win without trial lawyer $$$ is to self finance your campaign. Paying for a gubernatorial campaign would necessitate at least a $10 million expenditure. How many people have that kind of cash to blow?

Still cant believe Landry jumped in bed with the trail lawyers. He was going to win the election in a walk without them. He has really painted himself into a corner with this.
Did you pay attention at all during his campaign. People like yourself are why this state is overrun with these scumbags.

This.
If LA was so friendly to insurers, why aren’t they lining up to offer coverage here. Instead, we have to bribe them to come here.
On the other hand, sure are plenty of trial lawyers to choose from, that can afford really nice offices, advertising, sports tickets, political contributions, etc.

People that voted Edwards and not Wilson switched over to Landry. Even if the rest of us settled on one of those candidates, we still wouldn’t have won.
Why do you continue to spew this nonsense?
Had the states “republicans” gotten behind Schroder he most certainly would have had a chance. Too many idiots actually thought Wilson had a snowballs chance in hell and hurried to get behind Landry. In a worst case scenario, Landry would have won in a runoff. There is no bigger racist than a louisiana Democrat.

Auto liability insurance is mandated by the government. It creates a captive market filled with private firms (Allstate; State Farm, Riscom, etc.)
Given its’s compulsory to buy the insurance product by government edict, would you support a state-by-state disclosure of profit and loss?
For example, if [national carrier] made tens of millions of profit in a state that is not Louisiana but only made X profit in Louisiana, should that shift the discussion?

What do you do in the instance that the company that guy works for paid his health insurance instead of him? Does he still get the those premiums or is the company reimbursed?

Go read a carrier yellow book
And its not compulsory to buy insurance. There are minimum levels of financial responsibility. You are welcome to post a bond and self insure your risk of loss. But if you want to sell that risk to a third party they determine what premium they believe is adequate to cover the potential for loss.
You are not obliged to buy insurance from them. Its your choice

Attorneys are destroying this State. The “law” is required overhead to have a functioning society but it provides no creativity and growth to society.
The battle line in Louisiana is not Left/Right but attorneys and everyone else.

A common theme of many of these bills appears to be that of disclosure. What is wrong with the jury knowing the plaintiff doesn't owe the full amount of the medical bills presented? At the end of the day, the jury can still award pretty much whatever they want. Why is disclosure such a problem? Same thing with the legal financing. Why don't they want that disclosed? They also didn't want the jury to know if a plaintiff wasn't wearing a seatbelt. Why do so many things need to be kept in the dark?
Throw it all on the table and let the jury decide what to award. What is wrong with that?
Also, as a prior poster stated- the overwhelming majority of insurers won't take Louisianan's money at any price. Why are we so different than everyone else?

Rumors flying that Jeff is being blackmailed.

You don't understand Louisiana politics then.
lol ok
if everyone would've said no to Jeff then the trial lawyers would've had to pick another Republican who was better or Shaun Wilson who had no chance even with them
The Trial lawyers supported Walter Boasso in 2007 and some other Dem in 2011 - how did that work out for them?

How do you feel about Speaker Johnson?
Horrible - didn't like him before he was speaker. Wished he could be ousted by another Republican but their is no chance

I know exactly who he is.
Dude you have bragged on here a few months ago about how great he is and how he's going fix the state

I remember when people on this site downvoted me and argued with me when I said he was owned by/buddies with the trial lawyers.
