LA Insurance Fraudster donates to Landry Campaign the day his case is handed to AG office

I have been timid in my support of Landry mainly because i just didn't know enough about him. However, here is yet another bad look for Landry and this is becoming too much to toss up to "election season sensationalism".

And this is why everyone must debate

On April 5, state insurance investigators turned over their file on the largest fraud case they’d ever handled to Attorney General Jeff Landry’s office for possible criminal prosecution.
That same day, records show a leading suspect in that case, Houston attorney Zach Moseley, gave Landry’s campaign for governor the maximum donation allowed by law.
Now, five months later and less than a month before the election, Landry’s campaign has repeatedly declined to comment on whether it would return Moseley’s $5,000 contribution, sidestepping claims of cronyism leveled in TV ads, news stories and televised debates.
And this is why everyone must debate
quote:
In a debate Friday in Lafayette, State Treasurer John Schroder, a fellow Republican challenging Landry for the Governor’s Mansion, accused Landry of “cronyism.”
quote:
“How do you take the money and then also turn around and possibly open an investigation against them?” Schroder said, referring to Moseley and his law firm, McClenny Moseley & Associates.
Landry responded by contending he’d received more than $12 million from 11,000 donors and “we have no way to screen who gives us a check or not.”
But the allegations against Moseley have been well-publicized for months, including a WWL-TV investigation in May showing how MMA improperly signed up thousands of Louisiana storm victims as clients, negotiated insurance settlements for many of them without their knowledge and kept them from collecting tens of millions of dollars for repairing their homes.
Schroder has been airing attack ads about the Landry-Moseley connection for weeks, and WWL asked the Landry campaign whether it would return Moseley’s donation more than a week ago. Spokeswoman Kate Kelly declined to answer that question then and didn’t respond when the station asked again Tuesday.

Seems dumb of Landry not to return the money, even if he's done nothing wrong. It's 5K.
It would be a PR win and deflate some of the criticism.

Pretty weak answer from someone that is ostensibly an attorney.
You take some of that $12,000,000 and pay a person or two to create a data base of donors and run conflicts against matters before the AG. Pretty easy actually for anyone caring a whisper for ethics and bare minimum due diligence.

Landry is bought and paid for. He'll be a JBE clone.

By person, it would be a family member. And even if someone falls through the cracks, as soon as it's brought to your attention you return the funds. You don't play dumb and go with the "we didn't know game" and do nothing for over a week.

Landry will win. Louisiana will remain 50th in everything

May have to vote for Schroder.
Landry better address this shite because corrupt insurance figures are hated in these parts

cronyism - It's what makes us Louisiana.
All the way down to a laborer job.

Who knows? He might be great, but he seems unwilling to share his thoughts.
I suspect if you are a social conservative, then you think he will be 10x better than JBE.
If you are a fiscal conservative it could go either way. He might cut taxes or he might want to increase spending on the stuff he likes...Republicans have a tendency to do that when they have control of the executive and legislative branches.
Like I said, Landry is a question mark.

Uhhh.
You actually have to file a report - a legal document - with the state disclosing every single campaign contribution you receive.
You are not some local flunkie running for Village Alderman. You are the got damn attorney general running for governor, who has held elected office for so long, he could be considered a career politician.
And this wasn't a donation from some two bit hustler, but from a NAMED PARTNER at a law firm that almost everyone around here knows is in big trouble, AND one that is dealing with high level prosecutorial decisions involving YOUR office.
Then, when it's brought to your attention, you don't immediately fix it?
Every day, Jeff Landry is looking more and more like LaToya Cantrell. He could care less what you think about him, he thinks he is untouchable.
Yeah, he hates the liberals and the trannies. Does that compensate for the growing body of evidence against him that he is a corrupt POS who doesn't feel the laws applu to him?

He would 100 percent do both if he could get away with it.
Thank goodness we have a balaned budget requirement. It's one of the very few things we have correct about how our state government is set up.

Just another reason I'm not voting for Landry. I really need to dive more into this race but Landry does not seem like the right person. I despise how he has so many backers.

Landry is the conductor in the good ole boy network

I’ve been saying from the get go Landry has skeletons in his closet.
I think Wags could really challenge him if the other candidates would drop out.

Ehh…a more socially conservative JBE, and he won’t push for any tax increases because it might make him look bad nationally.
But is he going to get down into the nitty gritty of budget prioritization, decentralizing the state’s fiscal structure and civil service reforms?
Maybe he can bring someone like Schroder or Nelson into his administration to oversee that for him, because I have yet to see anything from Landry that tells me he has ANY interest in digging into those “boring” issues.

I mean…considering the amount of out of state donations Landry camp takes in, it might be an accurate answer. However, you’ve got to come up with something better to put out in the media when these sorts of stories start popping up.

Landry won’t do anything that won’t bring attention to himself. So we can expect at least 4 years of pandering to social issues while ignoring the shite that matters. Infrastructure, taxes, education, tort reform, etc. won’t catch the attention of national media but tranny debates sure will.
