It was a Declaration page stating which party primary you wished to vote in.

Thanks for explanation. Has your phone been blown up with political text ads everyday for the past month? Looking for an option to avoid that crap!
No party might actually make it worse.

No party kept us out of amendments

I only went to vote for the library renewal in Lafayette. Cassidy vote/ thread was lagniappe.
We had a few basic ones get beat down in Lafayette a few years ago during the Tea Party wave. Hope we’re over that now.

A little bit. I don’t have an answer for that one, though.
I switched to "I" last year thinking I could avoid them but then switched back to ensure I could participate today. I may have to look into the no party option.

Ok I was told by a friend very close to election that I had to switch from I to R to participate.
That's the catch. The State switched everyone from Independent to No Party last year some time because there is a registered "Independent Party".
So an "Independent" couldn't vote in any primary. But "No Party" voters could choose.

I had all the amendments then the one local to Lafayette ?
I was surprised to see I could vote on St. George from Lafayette.
We really need a new constitution.

So if the citizens voted down everything the state politicians wanted to do, who the Hell are the state politicians representing?

I’m saying of the three options, that we were given since we are independents, if you chose the “independent” ballot, and not republican or democrat, you could not vote on the amendments. That’s what I recall from today.

Citizens didn't understand the amendments and just filled in 'No'
If they understood them, there is no way No 4 is voted down. Especially when people are already complaining about high prices as consumers.

Please sweet baby Jesus make Cassidy come in third and miss the runoff
Posted on 5/16/26 at 9:28 pm to lsuguy84
That’s pretty wild. I would think all voters get to vote on amendments, regardless of party affiliation.

My son is registered independent and got to vote on the amendments.

Looks like all amendments are getting demolished, which based on reporting is due to the temper tantrum in response to the Callais decision.
Retarded, but not unexpected.
Imagine if we still had the jungle primary.
We would be looking at Cassidy with a fighting chance.
