If your child grew up to have distinctly different views from you on political/social issues would you be greatly disappointed?

Would it negatively affect your feelings for the kid? Would it have an impact on time spent together? Inheritance? Or is blood thicker than politics?

Obviously if the kid is disrespectful and rude in his actions it would have a negative effect, but what if it was simple disagreement?

My brother is a Bernie bro and says Obama wasn’t left enough. I still love him. We don’t talk politics. When he tries to throw comments, I shut him down with the quickness. Mainly with “you still keeping that tax cut money?”

Let them get a job and then see if reality mugs them.

A Republican tends to be a Democrat who saw how much he was paying in taxes.

I disagree with my parents and siblings on multiple issues, but we're all on the right wing on some level.

I expect my kids to be the same.

I’m not 180 from my dad. But, very different. We love each other and have tremendous respect.

My best friend in the world voted HRC. I’d donate a kidney tomorrow. We’ve spent many a late night having respectful, fun debates.

So, I don’t see a conflict

What's wrong with having a fundamental difference with someone and still knowing what kind of neighbor they are? You could always choose to love them anyway.

I know someone in that situation with her daughter.

It's very painful for her.

Teach your children values or someone will teach them theirs.

Be involved in the their life. Start early. Teach them that leftists, sjw's, etc.are evil amoral anti American beings.

Disown.

If you are a republican and have a little coin and your child goes bleeding heart liberal, write a new will and leave his or her share to black lives matter or me too charities. Why should they care, they didn’t build your estate? Oh and you should also email him a copy of it.

That should do it.

My brother went to an Ivy League school and lives in Northern VA. He started out on the right, but has slowly drifted hard left. Everything is politics with him now and you can’t have any discussion without him bashing Trump. Even small talk about the weather will set him off.

My parents and other siblings are all on the right. We are all disappointed.

My oldest son is mini-me politicaly, my youngest son is not comfortable with politics at all.(he is more of pleaser and hates confrontation)

He will vote for the first time during the midterms. I will be having a LONG conversation with him in the next couple of weeks.

Letting politics get in between your personal relationships is taking it too far IMO. I have plenty of friends and family who vehemently disagree with me on certain topics, and vice versa, but we don't let it harm our relationship.

Most of us can have a civil discussion about it and not hate each other.

Although there is a point where the line gets crossed. If any of my friends or family acted like these wretched imbeciles you see attacking people (verbally or physically) in public that's where I would say enough. I wouldn't find the need to spend much time with them.

Yes I'd be disappointed and would tell then to get the hell out and not come home until they have come to their senses.

If he was an Obama man......

Disown his arse in a New York Snowflake second......

What that says is he listens to and believes a sick, racist lying MF..... and that is serious my bro.......I would still love him but I would disown him from all inheritance.....

I made my money by the sweat of my brow and not like Obama says that the government did that for me.....

If my kid were a libtard, it would mean a couple of things.

Firstoff, it means they are very gullible, impressionable, and illogical.

Secondly, the vast majority of libs are notoriously dishonest and habitual liars.

Lastly, they are insecure, self loathing and seek approval from others, hence their constant virtue signaling.

In summation, I would hate my kid and send them off to military school to break their arse.
