It’s fine if kids have their own political opinions.

i'm more or less the opposite of my father politically. we agree on a few important issues like fiscal responsibility, LGBT/civil rights, tax rates, etc. we argue about it. we have some good discussions and have changed each others minds on the occasional issue. i can't imagine hating or disliking someone because of their political beliefs though.

this may come as a shock to you guys ( ) but i'm not exactly respectful of shitty arguments

Late in this thread but to me, the point is to inform the opposition why your side is right on policy or issues. Not badgering them into submission but to get them thinking “hey, what GAAtty said actually makes sense. I’ll investigate further”.

The left on the other hand is pack mentality. Most lefties are probably fairly insecure people who go along with the posse in fear of losing their friends and or identity. Don’t take my word for it, just watch any YouTube clip when the host asks simple questions and they stutter like a MF while putting together an incoherent word salad.

My dad is as irrational, emotional, and knee-jerk of a voter as this board has ever decried. He's MAGA but has voted everywhere from far-left to Trump and in between. Was a solid Democrat for 40 years then claimed he was betrayed by Clinton. He can't talk for 30 minutes without saying some kind of retarded "damn Obama" bullshite. It has put a major strain on our relationship.

My brother is a Bernie bro and says Obama wasn’t left enough. I still love him. We don’t talk politics. When he tries to throw comments, I shut him down with the quickness. Mainly with “you still keeping that tax cut money?”

Your tax return quip is a great comeback, I’ve shut a lot of Prog/Dim leftists down with that one too. Lol!

I am a conservative/libertarian mix. My wife is a beautiful, compassionate Christian woman who votes based on pro-life vs pro-choice. She questions anyone's character that is pro-abortion and will not vote for them. Period. Our oldest is a Republican. She asked the difference between dems and repubs the first time she voted. Gave her websites to visit, both sides. She is MAGA to the tee. Our son is a chip off his dad and the baby is her mama's clone. Needless to say Trump will get at least 5 votes in 2020.

If my kid ever became a freedom hating, private property loathing, totalitarian enabling leftist I would write them out of my will and send them out into the world with the clothes on their back. Let the state take care of em. They’d still be welcome to visit.

I expect for us to disagree on many things but I also expect our fundamental basis to be similar.

Our conversations go from Hi to frick you in 2.2 seconds. I'd 5.56 her as fast as the next commie because that is who she is. Gimmie my benefits.

Family/blood doesn't mean shite in the game of life. I'm not sure how she crawled out of the same womb as me or grew up under the same roof.

That’s for very narrow-minded individuals. My parents and I have opposing political views. We’re still best friends because we know some things are more important than politics.

My 18 year old daughter is MAGA as they come. Super proud of her for recognizing how devoid the left is of common sense and how stupid libtards truly are.

Don't be too sure. I am suffering that problem now - with some of my grandchildren, and a son who hates Trump.

It has come to the point we cannot discuss politics without hurt feelings.

I would have bet my life that they would have all been staunch conservatives.

My daughter is bombarded at school and on social media with the prog ideals. She has heard the lunacy for years. She believes parts of it but I hold a trump card.

She is a hard worker and is getting an education to be able to afford a decent lifestyle. She also doesn't understand why taxpayers have to feed people that are simply too lazy to work. This will eventually get her right where she needs to be.

Have a sibling who was super liberal throughout college and we would get in debates, but we were both adults who could handle that we had we had different political views at the time. The funny thing is after college she spent 5 years as a Social worker, it opened her eyes that poor people are poor because they continue to make stupid decisions and no matter how much counseling, resources, and help you offer as long as daddy government has their back they continue to make stupid decisions. She is now more conservative and she is no longer a Social Worker. She told me working with these people was frustrating and an eye opener.

Any parent who doesn’t make their kid earn an allowance and then promptly demand half of it back as a tax to give to his little sister because she can’t work is not teaching their kids about the real world.

He’s not. He lets his emotions and peers dictate his thinking, which has caused a lot of problems. At one time he may have been the most intelligent person in our family (besides our father-who was a medical professional) but he has let that slip away, and now he’s unemployed. It’s really rather sad.
