Obviously if he wanted the seat he would get it, there is a definite hierarchy to both the GOP and Dems in LA which is both a very good thing and sometimes can be challenging.

I agree having Scalise at 53 become a US Senator he could easily be there 24 years which would be huge for LA! I honestly think just from what I hear it could be a possibility because Scalise may not want to tie his horse totally to Trump. Nobody is beating him in that house district. To be honest this is one of the strongest congressional delegations LA has had in a long time.

If Kennedy chooses not to run, I see Ralph Abraham running, if Kennedy does run and win see him appointing Abraham to the seat. Just my two cents from what I have heard.

Logic Leap much?

I didn't say he was morally bankrupt or that he was a pathological liar.

I said he was a liar, which he is. The man lied to me and many others when he was chairman of the Bond Commission.

Is he morally bankrupt? I don't know, ask his wife and then ask his girlfriend. They know him best.

Why would a US Senator give up that gig to be a Governor?

Kennedy is the epitome of this. You'd think he was born and educated in a log cabin and not a Vanderbilt/UVA/Oxford graduate. Also a business as usual neocon as evidenced by his vote on the Saudi Arabia/Yemen resolution.

NOOOOOOO Abraham, Johnson, Graves are all better

Johnson is good. Abraham seems like a whack job. Graves spent 6 years in 3 colleges and still never graduated.

I see Steve Scalise moving up to the Senate and he would be a very logical choice for Louisiana. A lot more power in the Senate than in the House for him

Lol what?

Give up being the number 2 GOP in the House to become some freshman junior senator?

Lol no.

I was actually liking him as a Senator.
He calmed down with his over the top sayings.

I’m still very naive as to why a U.S. Senator would would “step down” to run for governor of Louisiana.

Especially Vitter...

I realize I’m naive, but could someone explain to me why.

1. As a Governor you are an executive and can get a lot more stuff done, as a Conservative Senator it is very difficult to really affect policy.

2. You don't have to live in DC where 90% of the people are bigger assholes than you.

3. Really enjoying the Senate requires seniority, so when you are a new Senator like Kennedy you are still junior, even though you are older than much of the Senate.

JBE will be reelected in 2019. Senator Kennedy is the biggest fake in Louisiana politics and that is saying something.

I was impressed with the guy during the recent months, when he has been in the national news.

Y’all could do far worse. In fact, you seem to do so with distressing regularity.

So now we have to listen to that fake Senator Cornbread persona that Kennedy has started?

Kennedy, since he will be a Senator until the moment he is inaugurated as Governor.

No, we won't. Kennedy's replacement will serve out his term.

Why would he WANT to run for Governor of this POS state?

To add his name to the proud legacy of Long, Edwards, Blanco, Jindal, et al?
