After viewing his "I have been asked to run" and "My state is in trouble" line of bullshite, I predict John Kennedy will run and win.

I don't like Kennedy as I know him to be a liar and a pay for play politician. Lucky for him, he's running against a liar and a pay for play politician as well.

Glad you got us morally straight about the Senator...Here I was thinking he was an effective leader plus loving his metaphors. So, thank you, I'll dismiss him graduating at the top of his classes on every level.... instead he's a morally bankrupt and pathological liar.

Glad we have all the moral plumblines on TD. Keeps sinners like myself in their place.

Who gets to appoint Kennedy’s interim replacement? If the sitting Senator unseats the Governor in Louisiana, is the Senate seat filled in the lame duck gubernatorial period or after the new governor takes over?

Related: does Louisiana appoint an interim and schedule a special election?, or do we appoint an interim and move the special election to the next national election period?

TLDR: , if Kennedy defeats JBE, who appoints the replacement and will we vote on both LA senate seats in 2020?

That was a virtual certainty when Landry announced he wasn't. Probably worth it to become Senator Landry after Kenney gets into office.

Please God no.

The absolute last thing that the Republican Party needs is another faux-conservative “Tea Party” ideologue who is more concerned with sounding folksy than effectuating policy.

Absolutely. A senate seat is more prestigious than the governorship of all but about 5 states. Louisiana isn’t close to being one of the exceptions

I don't care who the front runner is as long as he promises that he will be the complete opposite of JBE and will not do what he does.

Get that tax and spend, job killing libtard the frick off the 4th floor.

Kennedy will just keep the seat till the second he becomes governor, then it goes to him to fill it. This has been done by many senators turned governor.

If smart, he’ll appoint Clay Higgins

Thanks. I was not aware it was common practice. I know that nationwide offices require (officially or unofficially) that the candidate resign from their Congressional seat, but wasn’t sure how that worked for state races.

As a second point, why Congressman Higgins?

No. Higgins votes lib as much as he votes conservative. He’s all hat and no cattle.

X1000 and despite people putting their head in the sand on this board. He has been that way for a long time where he will hold up deals unless you contribute to his campaign and then he will approve. He was masterful at pay to play politics during his time on the LHFA Board.

I do as well, but I do not like Clay Higgins moving up whatsoever. He is bad news for the state GOP as a whole, great for his district but not for the state, which a Senator has to be.

I see Steve Scalise moving up to the Senate and he would be a very logical choice for Louisiana. A lot more power in the Senate than in the House for him.
