Can you imagine her standing up there attempting to discuss this?

Yeah, I need more than just a talking point about taxes on unrealized gains. A cursory explanation from Kamala would suffice (and would be highly entertaining). Can you imagine the word salad that would ensue?

This is how you get to the World Economic Forum's promise that by 2030 "You'll Own Nothing and Like It". If they impose a 25% tax on unrealized gains, then no individuals will be able to own property. They will have to sell their property to pay the tax and the only buyers will be large corporations that will then rent them out. And the tax valuations will occur the same way as current property tax valuations. You'll just get a bill in the mail for whatever the government has assessed your property to be valued at.

The government will be able to confiscate your guns in the same way. You know that shotgun that you've owned for 20 years, it's now worth $10k because we say so. Oh you don't have the money to pay the tax, the IRS will just take it from you instead.

No. Old man out west somewhere retired in the home with his wife’s boyfriend. It’s nice that they worked it out.

Do some of her fans on here really think this will have no economic impact?
Yes. Taxing unrealized gains (presumably I wouldn’t get a cash refund for unrealized losses) means other capital markets around the world get A LOT more attractive. The capital flight will be swift and devastating.

It would the single dumbest economic policy since Smoot-Hawley

Taxing unrealized gains is madness

Also happens to be unconstitutional for the Feds (constitution allows taxing INCOME, not wealth. ) unrealized gains are not income.

The proposal also includes a 25% tax on unrealized gains for high-net-worth individuals

This is such BS. How can you be taxed on something yet to be earned?
