Could be. Trump is loading up on conservative federal judgeships. Even the notorious 9th circuit is being altered. They are probably trying to stop him from upsetting the status quo any more than he has thus far.

Kamala should take up her gripe with Pelosi and the House democrats then. IIRC, Cocaine Mitch left the Senate schedule for January empty with the expectation that they would be holding an impeachment trial. But Pelosi pulled her bullshite and held the articles of impeachment for a month after the House voted to approve them. We'd already be 2 weeks into a Senate impeachment trial and likely halfway done with it if not for those shenanigans.
Mitch should keep the judicial nominee train rolling as of the first week of February and tell the Democrats to kick rocks because he isn't going to continue gridlocking Senate business because the House democrats sat on their articles of impeachment for over a month before they finally turned them over to the Senate.

Naw, her seat will stay empty. Mitch won't rock the boat on that one and allow the election to happen. Good fodder to get Republicans to the polls if she goes while maintaining the gentlemen's agreement that got him Gorsuch.
Dems have to take the white house and the Senate for a real replacement for her though. I don't think they can muppet her for 5 more years.
