I’m upset that the governor issued an order that contained criminal penalties (and Paxton’s office backed its enforceability and legality, right down the line), then blamed a judge for having the audacity of upholding his order.
No, you’re not. You’re upset that someone is getting away with opening their business.

I bet you have no problem with criminals being released. But heaven forbid, some woman wants to open back up her salon business because she wants to help feed her family and you are throwing a damn fit. Good grief

Are they going to scold the Texas Supreme Court?
Let me know how that works out for them.

fricking libtard judges showing their true colors
Hope that’s not too racist for our liberal faint of heart sows?
Judges want to be able to lock up private business leaders in future obviously
We need a Civil War, hopefully without bullets like the left is doing

The Texas Supreme Court pretty much said (temporarily, at least) that the up-to 6-month statutory punishment for contempt of court, codified by the legislature... is ... wrong? Unconstitutional? Who knows. They haven't ruled yet. They just ordered her released pending further arguments.
Remember, she wasn't jailed for opening her salon, she was jailed for contempt of court.
When you publicly rip up a court order and say, "frick you, Greg Abbott, Judge Jenkins and Judge Moye," I would say that's definitely contempt. Then she doubled down in court with another middle finger extended.

Others said the Texas Supreme Court’s emergency order to free Luther from jail also could set a disturbing precedent.
Andrés Correa, a Dallas civil attorney who’s practiced before Moyé, said he worries that the move by the state’s highest civil court will make it more difficult for attorneys and judges to do their jobs.
“Our court system is built on precedent, so when things take dramatic turns, it makes it a little more difficult for litigants to understand what they can expect,” Correa said. “If the people of Dallas think they can do whatever they want and disregard court orders, then how can [judges] enforce” the law.

More:
quote:
Renée Cross, senior director at the Hobby School of Public Affairs at the University of Houston, said Abbott authored the stay-at-home orders and appeared to be buckling under pressure.
“Essentially, she violated his executive order the way it was originally written,” Cross said of Luther. “And then for [Abbott] to come back and say, ‘Oh, no, she should be allowed to run her business or feed her family, essentially,’ looks to be nothing but a political move because he’s had such pressure from the very conservative wing of the Republican Party.”

His "changing his mind" about the jail punishment part for breaking his order has no bearing on whether a judge can send someone to jail for contempt.
He didn't retroactively rescind the order in total (which is lifted today) because the fine stood. The dumbass Lt Gov Dan Patrick paid it for her.
Can you wrap your ahead around that distinction?

Doesn't matter how a judge fricks up...judges blindly protect each other.
