I don’t think it’s uncommon for a judge to ask the defendant to admit to wrongdoing in exchange for leniency.

It happens all the time.

Find something else to get upset about. No jail time anymore.

You guys keep downvoting people that are making good points. It is inappropriate for the ag.

If the Governor doesn't like the courts ruling on enforcement of his order, he needs to withdraw the order.

I don't know shite about Texas law though, so my opinion is supported by a whole bunch of nothing.

And its wrong every time.

It fricking petty, unbecoming and indicative of a personality drunk on power with little understanding of their role in society.

Youre there to judge the facts of a case or play mediator, not scold adults like youre a parent coming home inebriated and frustrated after a hard day at the office or an angry pet owner rubbing your dogs nose in its shite.

I’m sorry this lady opened her business where she cuts hair, texashorn. How dare her. People are dying. She needs to just follow her orders from the authoritarian people in the government like a good little sheep.

Since when did "not uncommon" come to mean "right?"

The governor issued the order with criminal penalties.

And it was still unconstitutional. The judge should have said "you did not follow the order, but we have no right to jail or fine you over it. Good day ma'am."

We’re going in circles. The Attorney General’s office ruled that it was legal and enforceable.

And? Every judge has to enforce the constitution first and foremost...that's why they are judges.

No law or order can come before it.

And there were convicted prisoners released due to COVID concerns. Where was the following of the law in that regard? Regard for public safety? It's all BS.

What part of the constitution states that the government can’t shut down a private business?
