Mueller is about to go 0 for 14. Just proves that the only thing they had was threats, and that's it.

Are all these rebukes happening in front of the jury?

Smoke and mirrors, they were hoping for Manafort to take a plea deal.

If they cannot prove their case without a certain witness the relevant charge would probably have to be dismissed and never even get to the jury. Very bad news for Team Mueller. The decision to list and then not call
gates is inexplicable to me.

And, just like HRC was the"best" the left could do as a candidate, these prostituters of the law are the "best" Ol' Honest Bob the Buffoon can provide.

Hold on, baw. I think there are only 4 or 5 conspiracy counts there. The rest (13 or 14) are not conspiracy counts. Plus, Greg Andres claims they're putting Gates on the stand after all. Could be just to get in the defense's head.

quote:

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – A day after giving a coy answer to the judge about whether it would call Rick Gates as a witness, the prosecution confirmed Thursday that the plan remains for Gates to testify in the ongoing Virginia trial of former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort.

“We have every intention to call him as witness,” prosecutor Greg Andres said in court before the jury was ushered into the room.

I'm really ready for this to be done.

This has turned into a clown show with an ever-expanding scope. This was started as an investigation into Russian collusion with nothing more than rumors and a prayer. Now, it has blown up into a fishing expedition.

Trump is prepared to meet with Mueller's team but with conditions, one being that only questions regarding collusion will be asked. Mueller declined because he wants to include obstruction of justice, and more.

No sir. Your mandate is to investigate collusion. Any absence of proof thereof does not mean expand and dig deeper for anything else you can find. It means stop the clown show.

lying to the judge in order to get the defense to respond (and celebrate) for a day only to do exactly what everyone expected?

not exactly strong trial strategy. if this was their strat, they almost assuredly wasted more time in planning/executing it than the defense used in laughing/celebrating at the news

The prosecutor’s MO, as suggested above, was probably “Overcharge, threaten, and get them to take a plea deal.”

They never expected this to go to trial because of the scary statistics over the federal prosecutors’ win percentages and the costs of going to trial.

This is an old playbook for Mueller and his buddies, which worked albeit temporarily on the Enron cases amongst others.

Not so much here because people have figured out the game and know they haven’t done a lot of what they have been charged with.

This is what Andres told the press on his way into the courtroom, not the judge. “We have every intention to call him as witness” sounds a bit squirrely.

CNN reporting now, though, that Gates is expected to testify Friday or Monday so this may be more solid. Still could be games.
