Storyline #1:

• Virgil Delano Presnell murdered an 8y/o girl and raped her 10 yr old friend in 1976.

• He was captured that day, ID'd by the 10y/o, admitted the crime, and led police to the dead girl.

• He was sentenced to death, and has now been in prison 46yrs awaiting execution.

Storyline #2:

Fox News being a WokeWannaBe under Paul Ryan's leadership, decided to avoid naming the POS judge responsible for the stay of execution Monday night.

Her name is Shermela Williams (no thanks to FoxNews on that account). It seems she was elected Superior Court Judge in Fulton County during the 2020 BS.

Judge halts execution of Georgia man convicted of killing 8-year-old girl
By FOX 5 Atlanta
May 16, 2022

ATLANTA - A judge late Monday evening halted Tuesday's scheduled execution of a Georgia man for the killing an 8-year-old girl 46 years ago.

Virgil Delano Presnell Jr., 68, was scheduled to be executed on May 17 at 7 p.m. at the state prison in Jackson by injection of the sedative pentobarbital. He killed the 8-year-old girl and raped her 10-year-old friend after abducting them as they walked home from school in Cobb County, just outside Atlanta, on May 4, 1976.
...

Presnell abducted the two girls as they walked home along a wooded trail from a Cobb County elementary school on May 3, 1976. He drove them to a secluded wooded area, had them undress and raped the older girl, according to evidence at trial outlined in a Georgia Supreme Court ruling. The younger girl tried to run, but Presnell caught her and drowned her in a creek, the ruling says.

He locked the 10-year-old girl in the trunk of his car and then left her in a wooded area when he got a flat tire, saying he’d return. She ran to a nearby gas station and described Presnell and his car with a flat tire to police.

Officers found him changing his tire at his apartment complex. He denied everything at first but later led police to the 8-year-old girls body and confessed, the ruling says.

There is a newly appointed Supreme Court Justice that she seems to have a lot in common with.

Oh, it's a woman. Thought you said judge. We need to reduce the number of black women on the courts if their ideology is going to continue to cause them to go easy on dindunuffins. You're violating your oath, lady.

yea, OP left that part of for some reason....

Basically, when COVID halted executions and prison visits, it was said that executions would NOT resume until 6 months after all prison protocols were returned to normal.

The Defense argued that not only have ALL the prison visitation protocols not returned to normal, they were also only given a short notice of the execution resuming, when promised 6 months notice. Also, they were notified and only had like 3 days to prepare for a clemency hearing as well.

He will be executed, but the State should have followed their own WRITTEN agreement

Agree. Apparently his death sentence conviction has been overturned and reinstated a number of times over the 46 years too.

Let this family have some fricking closure

fricking ridiculous. I mean I understand wanting to make sure you have the right guy, so I am fine waiting on an appeals process. But 46 years is a fricking travesty.

A short notice is forty-six years???
Really??

Forty-six years ago a 10y/o was kidnapped and raped
Forty-six years ago an 8y/o was kidnapped and murdered
Forty-six years ago the perp was ID'd, convicted, and sentenced to death.
Over forty-six years a jury sentence has been thwarted for a man who is guilty beyond any doubt.

Now the gimmickry is "short notice"?
You wonder why the OP "left that part out?"

Because forty-six years is >5X the amount of "notice" his innocent 8y/o could have received, assuming she knew her execution date at birth.

That's what they said .... IN 1976!

I won’t comment on the stay since it seems some technicality is the reason, but waiting so long to administer justice is not justice. He should have been executed decades ago.

As corrupt as people in government can be, the administration of justice is one of the only true responsibilities the government has, and they don’t even do that.

Right on both counts.

The guy probably should have died long ago. I say “probably” only because the brief summary of the appellate history makes it look like the prosecution was pretty sloppy through the years.

But it looks like the stay was proper. The state did not follow its own protocols. If the State is going to kill people, it should at a minimum follow its own rules.
