John Fleming confronts Rep. Letlow for CCS support, not participating in TV debates

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – At the end of June, Congresswoman Julia Letlow and State Treasurer John Fleming will go head-to-head in the Republican primary runoff for the US Senate seat.
‘”This is a two-person race, this is not about endorsements or things like that, it’s up to you the voter,” said Fleming.
Congresswoman Julia Letlow is heading into the race with endorsements from both President Trump and Governor Jeff Landry.
“She’s basically told what to do by our Governor Jeff Landry who’s raising all the money, that’s used to attack me with dishonest ads,” said Fleming.
quote:
“Carbon Capture and Sequestration is really hideous to the people of Louisiana. You have a handful of wealthy people and companies along with powerful politicians that are going to make out like bandits and leave our state in terrible condition with all of that toxic carbon dioxide that will be stocked into the ground, ” said Fleming.
“She’s in a position to benefit financially from that tremendously and she could stop it if she were elected to the Senate, but she’s not going to stop it,” Fleming said.
“Repeal for 45Q Tax Credits that pay for it. CCS has no marketplace, it’s only paid for directly by taxpayers and if we end that waste now, or when I get elected to office, then all those projects end,” Fleming said.
Fleming wants to get oil and gas companies focused on what they’re good at. “Let Exxon Mobile and other companies, like that go back to doing what they do best, which is to drill for Oil & Gas, “Fleming said.
He says she cannot defend her support of CCS projects or past statements and positions, which is why she will not participate in a televised debate in front of the voters.
“If somebody is not going to take your questions now, if they’re not going to debate before you now, if they’re not going to take interviews before you now, what are the chances they’re going to answer to you once they get into office,” said Fleming.

Sadly, political debates are dying. Too many chickens running for office it seems.
Posted on 5/27/26 at 2:23 pm to ragincajun03
With such a huge lead, it would be stupid for Letlow to participate in a debate.

LA DNR has jurisdiction over CCS. I'm not for it but the anti CCS crowd is 99% nutcase with fake claims.
FTR, oil companies have drilled for CO2 for 70+ years.

I know neither one. What I do know is any government funded CCS projects in Louisiana or anywhere else is a GD government boondoggle project. It’s no different than Solyndra or the Bush’s switchgrass fuel. Or any other renewable energy government funded projects.
Remember Carter’s Synfuel Project? I do. How did that work out?
It’s all the same. Rinse and repeat.
Oh, and don’t forget biofuel, 10% ethanol to appease midwestern states, now going to 15% by executive order, not Congress.
What a bunch of horseshite.

If you've ever heard Letlow speak you'd know why I'm voting for Fleming.

Hmm, there may be another reason. From 1900 to 1965 HS debate was divided into Boy's Div. and Girl's Div. The reason was simple. Females are too stupid to debate against Males. They still are.

I agree it’s a process that reputable operators can undertake safely.
Fleming doesn’t appear to be arguing LA DNR’s jurisdiction. He’s stating to pull back the federal taxpayer funding of these projects, which were basically forced upon industry by the previous industry’s EPA.

I remember BP’s failed, government funded “energy cane” project out in Jeff Davis, Calcasieu and Cameron Parishes. The BP Biofuels facility in Mermentau eventually shut down, and I believe is now a spot being used by R360.

It has come down to who has Trump's imprimatur in order to win as a Republican irrespective if you stand for anything other than you support Trump....like Ed Gallrein in Kentucky. If you aren't the ire of Trump and he endorses you, that is all the Republican electorate needs.
Letlow is a short term error though, no matter what. Landry actually wants that job and will offer her President of the LSU system.

It’s frustrating so many hardcore Fleming supporters only talk about carbon capture. I swear the first thing they say when they wake up or go to sleep is carbon capture.
While I probably agree with them on the issue, it’s way down on my list.

The only question I have and care about is . Are you willing to eliminate the filibuster to pass the save act? The only thing I give a shite about. Because all it takes is one more election for the Democrats to cheat win and control all branches of government . Then this country is done .

“oil companies have drilled for CO2 for 70+ years”
What the frick are you talking about? Are you retarded?
Oil companies have never drilled for CO2.
They have used CO 2 for enhanced oil recovery for a little over 50 years, they inject it into wells to force residual oil out of formations.
CO2 sequestration is totally different, and it’s totally a bull shite scam.
Taxpayers will pay companies to inject CO2 into deep formations in the earth.
If the CO2 leaks out of the formations it poses a danger to the overlying aquifers from which most Louisiana residents get water. That’s an unacceptable risk, doesn’t take a lot imagination to understand the catastrophe that would be.
Brad LeBlanc ,a geologist with over 45 years experience in oil and gas says it’s going to leak sooner or later.
The LSU “experts,”no doubt financed by EXXON say it’s not going to leak.
Experts are often wrong, the experts said the Titanic was an unsinkable ship, didn’t complete its maiden voyage.
Lots of experts work for NASA,space shuttle Challenger didn’t get out of sight before it blew up.Columbia blew up upon reentry over E Texas and Toledo Bend.
The first sequestration well in N.America was in Decatur Illinois. The “experts” determined it was the ideal location due to the formation it was being injected into.Well it did leak,ADM that owned the site was monitoring the well, didn’t report it for 5 months.

I will only vote for a woman if I have no other choice. Women in politics has killed this country. Fleming all the way

Woman will vote on emotion. I'm sure is a nice person but she does not need to be senator.

Letlow will get my vote simply due to DJT's endorsement. She certainly will not be any worse than Cassidy was, but will stand with POTUS in his efforts to rid our Republic of being destroyed from within.
I stand with POTUS, no one else. There is a reason he did not throw his support to Fleming. I don't know what the reason is yet, but I trust him here.

Wow. Just when I thought this was 2026 and we were past blatant bigotry, here it is…I legit feel sorry for you if this is your version of critical thinking. I’m sure your mother would be so proud
