Have you seen the report/story from maybe last year where an old wellbore someone’s home was built on top of started leaking produced water?

No, but it’s not surprising. There are a few stories of old wells producing again in the Haynesville after they fracked below their zone.

Why don’t they put CO2 in depleted salt domes? They are playing a dangerous game with what they are currently trying to do.

I love Trump but I never heard what he has against Fleming and why he thinks Letlow would be better except for Fleming having ruffled Trump’s feathers.

He said both are great candidates and left it at that in a Truth Social post several weeks ago.

To be fair, I can't name a man in politics who is not a disappointment.

Oh man, he really hurt you, huh?

I want what’s best for Louisiana and, IMO, that’s someone who can grow into being a Senator, not someone who ages out in a few years.

But go on being a typical low IQ Louisiana voters.

Fleming just comes off as desperate. I think he would be better served in talking about what he will do when elected, but that's just me.

THIS!!! He and his lacky followers are falling for the trap — paint Fleming as an old, angry curmudgeon, which he is. Letlow has kept him on the defense since day one. Sad, but probably best he ride off into the sunset with Cassidy and Cornyn.

Name one reason why you would vote for her over Fleming. One policy reason. It makes you a democrat

Is this process independently profitable for the energy companies?

Absolutely NOT! There is NO market for this other than tax credits from us taxpayers they then sell. It all bullshite. I’m in the oilfield and can say with 100% certainty it’s completely bullshite and the corruption since 2020 to make this happen will make you sick.
Starting with Louisiana legislation in 2020 that makes it easier to steal land from the people

That’s because it’s MUCH less costly to make money.

I can confirm this. Carbon capture was a way for O&G to funnel more taxpayer subsidies directly to them via the politicians. If carbon capture was valuable these companies would have doing this decades ago. The technology is a waste, and it's only purpose is to assist in fracking, but the cost outweighs the benefit.

The only benefit is to O&G via a direct infusion from tax dollars.

A friend is fine with it and has a history as a leading conservationist. He even bought 10,000 acres from Amoco to restore the marsh which is impacted by the first approved site in the USA.

Remember Carter’s Synfuel Project? I do. How did that work out?

It was coal gasification and was while Reagan was in office. They actually worked. Shell was planning to build a slurry pipeline from West Virginia to Deer Park TX and build a giant plant, it had already demonstrated GTL technology and would have turned the syn gas into sulfur fuels and base oil for lubricants. Crude oil went from $50 to $20 per barrel so that killed it.

As far as other synfuels, we had a serious dependence on the Middle East until two old technologies were made viable for tight shale formations thanks to Geosteerable drilling developed offshore Louisiana. It was in the interest of National Security to have an alternative

Actually…pretty interesting, but the groundwork for carbon sequestration in Louisiana, including the pathway to expropriation of surface, mineral rights and porespace rights for the purpose of storing CO2, was HB 661 by Rep Jim Morris in the 2009 Legislative Session.

The bill, now Act 517, includes the “Louisiana Geologic Sequestration of Carbon Dioxide Act. It passed the House 97-0 (7 “absent” votes) and the Senate 39-0.

I remember BP’s failed, government funded “energy cane” project

Mermentau to be precise it was the old Sheperd Oil topping plant refinery converted to ethanol thanks to EWE's guarantees. $150+ million which could have built a $60 million grassroots plant then had no operating capital. The bankruptcy trustee lost money in the bankruptcy, something that never happens.

Then several versions of a Massachusetts company bought out of bankruptcy only to go bankrupt again. Top site figures were all from Crowley, go figure.

I had financial backing to buy the plant liquidate the equipment and sell the scrap stainless steel. A major problem was major items were leased and never purchased, the boiler, the chillers the centrifuges, etc... After going through the plant to get an accurate inventory, the site manager and one of his henchmen invited me to his office then threatened to disable any equipment if I planned to liquidate it.

At time BP had it, there was a serious national security risk for our dependence on imports.

Also, it was Sec Def, Rumsfeld, who issued a letter of intent which enabled the project to get financing. Ground was broken at the end of Bush's term. It was a JV between Syntroleum and Tyson originally. Syntroleum technology was used for Juniper GTL in Lake Chuck and the operating GTO plant in Trinidad. Another is being built in Canada. Juniper was actually screwed three times. First it lost funding when the EU changed banking regs, Secon, it lost funding then went bankrupt due loss of funds with the 2014 oil price collapse. A client never came through for me with funding to complete it so a Wall Street investment bank picked it up with some Sheik Money from UAE. They screwed that sheik out of $300 million when $75 would have completed it. So it went bankrupt a second time.

It was going use GTL to convert animal fats, including PIG, to make fuel for the Navy. Flying over Allahu Akbar countries with atomized pig fat would have been fun to watch. Obama took the media hit for $30 per gal jet fuel for the Navy.

Yes, the plant site, but BP had landmen trying to negotiate and acquire ag leases in Jeff Davis, Calcasieu, Cameron and I think even very Western Acadia Parishes to grow these “energy crops”.

Then you cannot possibly vote for Letlow. She only wants what's best for Trump. No principles, not original thoughts, just what she's told.

Carbon capture isn’t the issue.

You need to take that up with Fleming, because he says it is the issue
quote:

Fleming says he never supported any such amendments of bills supporting carbon capture or sequestration projects.

He voted 6 times to fund CC. Hes now trying to skirt the issue by adding two words to his YES votes - "in Louisiana".
