You are incorrect about the Select Committee findings. There was a second shooter. The Select Committee didn't reach a conclusion as to the persons behind it. But I have spoken with the chief counsel for the Select Committee and he is convinced it was the mafia.

Was this Dallas County Deputy who was present when the rifle was discovered on the 6th floor evet discredited, because he is said that he was within 6 inches of the rifle and very clearly saw that it was a 7.5 Mauser. Additionally, same deputy found 3 shell casings which were of a different caliber. Later, the make and caliber of the rifle was changed to a Carcano 6.5 so that the casings would match the rifle.
Nobody has ever discredited this man, to my knowledge. He was on the scene immediately after the shooting. Check out this video. It is compelling and I see no reason not to believe him. He was killed by a rifle bullet in 1975. It was ruled suicide, although he didn't own a rifle.
Even J Edgar Hoover reported to LBJ a week after the shooting that shots came from the front. That conversation is recorded and available on the LBJ Library web site.
