Actually, it shows that po m icy making even by Trump and his people is remarkably consistent and deliberation. There's no scandal policy wise. But, I would suspect that Waltz is tweaking his resume this evening. No way any President could let this slide.

Laziness. People are used to using their phones for everything. It is a real problem within the government from what I hear.
Signal is probably pretty secure in itself, BUT the phones people use are not secure. If you hack the phone, you can read the messages. Hegseth, Vance, Ratcliffe all have phones that would be a major priority for Chyna to hack.
NSA is in charge of setting up all the secure channels for the government. They research and test everything vigorously before approving the devices. Sometimes it can take years to approve a new device or encryption algorithm. (NSA designs their own algorithms which are all classified). NSA is in charge of generating nuke codes and all that stuff too. They are the world experts on cryptography.

Every official involved in that group chat should be fired and prosecuted. Absolutely no excuse for having that kind information out on a commercial app, presumably on personal devices for some of them as well. This likely wasn’t the first time they communicated sensitive information so carelessly either. These people cannot be trusted to handle national security going forward.
