re: Trump orders agencies to stop using Anthropic AI tech

Good on Anthropic for not caving in.
re: I feel bad for the #LearnToCode folks with AI taking a lot of their jobs

Why is anyone happy others are losing their jobs? What kind of sick, demented person takes pleasure in the suffering of others?
I can only assume this individual is miserable in life and wants to see others dragged down with him.

Your referring to the crowd that tried to bust into the capitol building to murder the congressmen carrying out their constitutional duties?

No, we’ll just spend tens of billions on an extended air campaign, expending our missile inventories at Israel’s behest. Some Americans may die, but that’s a sacrifice Israel is willing to make.
re: Jack Dorsey just laid off half of work force. The severance is quite healthy.

So, are we really going to go full steam ahead with AI with zero regulation or plan on how to handle millions of people losing their jobs and homes? If we reach Great Depression levels of employment, ands it’s likely to be higher, then there’s going to be mass civil unrest at some point. At the bare minimum, we need to be having a serious public discourse involving the federal government on how to respond. Robust unemployment, job training assistance, education assistance, etc is gonna have to happen at a bare minimum.

Can the US be trusted? Every 4-8 years brings contradictory foreign policy choices. What good is an agreement signed with the US when the next administration is likely to unilaterally withdraw? Fact is the agreement was in place and being followed with verifiable inspections, but Trump was never going to allow an Obama achievement to stay in place, nor was Israel going to allow anything except the complete destruction of the Islamic government in Iran.

Still great talent there. They made HL Alyx a few years back and it was incredible. Their hardware is also excellent. Satisfied owner of their Index VR headset and Steam Deck.

Free time to do what? Enjoy your barely subsistence level income so generously bestowed to you by the AI owners? Provided they don’t choose to let the masses starve on the streets.

30% is the industry standard. It’s what Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo charge as well.
Personally, I’d be happy to see an end to gambling, loot boxes, etc. They are incredibly addictive for younger players, and we have an entire generation or two of boys and men who spend all their free time wasting away on video games.

re: Islamic goodybags handed out to high school kids in TX.

They’ve allowed Christian groups to handout items and preach on the edge of high school campuses for years. Everything that Christian fundamentalists have been allowed to get away with, Muslims will now too. That’s why you can’t give religion an inch.

So? It’s a war. Destroying their oil infrastructure has been their goal for 2 years now.

I think 20s is far too young, unless the illness is terminal or there’s little quality of life to be had. Quadriplegics, the blind, etc should be allowed to end their life if they so choose. I would also add chronic, treatment resistant depression to that list too. As someone who has had life long clinical depression, I have nothing but understanding and sympathy for someone not wanting to continue on living in constant misery.
re: What the heck, Gavin Newsom Leads JD Vance for First Time in Tracking Poll
Posted by uziyourillusion on 2/22/26 at 9:51 pm to GumboPot
I don’t like Newsom, but this wouldn’t surprise me. Trump is historically unpopular and only going down in approvals. JD Vance is also one of the least charismatic and likable figures in politics right now. I think he’ll be an easy win against the right Dem candidate. Rubio would be far more dangerous for Dems.

I don’t know why people still deny the cause of the civil war is the South’s desire to preserve slavery as an institution. Every declaration of succession spells it out clearly for everyone to see. They were very much unabashed in their views on white supremacy and slavery.
It’s true the Union’s goal was more about preservation than strictly about ending slavery, but Lincoln long wanted slavery abolished and the south gave him the opportunity to finally end that scourge.

re: Putin: ‘The murder of Charlie Kirk was a disgusting atrocity.’

Not likely. 1 in 5 religious people in Russia are Muslim. They are the fastest growing demographic in an otherwise declining country. An alliance with Russia against China is pure delusion. Russia wants to rule over Europe and the US will never allow that, even under Trump. Therefore, Putin will always see the US as its principal adversary and align with whomever it takes to knock us down a few pegs.

Crazy I know, but it’s okay to just not like any murderers, whether it’s Putin, Obama, or Trump.

You think a traditional view of marriage is more important than not murdering people?

How many Charlie Kirk’s is Putin responsible for murdering? Probably hundreds, if not thousands. Insane how people are willing to ignore the crimes of a literal mass murderer and dictator.

So you support violating the constitution whenever a president deems it’s an “emergency”?

Constitution is clear on who has the authority on imposing tariffs.
