This is the next big constitutional fight. I’m open to hearing how this squares with originalism, but I just don’t see it.

What happened to laboratories of democracy and different states trying different policies?

This seems very small government and not authoritarian at all

Devil's advocate...

If you consider unborn children have rights as persons, then they are citizens of Louisiana and it has an interest in the safety/well-being of its citizens, even in other states.

If leftie states can kidnap kids for gender destruction then why not.

Board lefties will obviously call out LA for not being "small govt" but see no problem with their states crossing way to many lines.

If you want to kill babies and sterilize kids leave Louisiana and just don't come back?
That makes sense to me.

But how does Louisiana retain jurisdiction over me when I am physically in another state? How can you have concurrent sovereignty amongst two states?

What an idiot. He has no jurisdiction on what Louisians do outside of the state, whether it be on vacation, on business or even an abortion.

He sounds like he might be reckless and dangerous if given powers of the Governor.

Next thing you know Krotz Springs police will want to ticket you for speeding in an other state.

Under this theory could Landry try to prosecute LA citizens who purchase weed legally in other states ?

What law does he think is being broken?

You can't have an abortion in Louisiana.

It's not Louisiana residents can't have abortions.

But we need those people. Those are our best and brightest and we can’t let them leave the state

As much as I am against abortions I will state the obvious that it's none of his business what goes on in other states and what people do when traveling to those states.

I tend to agree.

But on the other hand,
a lot of people feel like it's their business if someone flies to Bangkok (or Epstein's island) to have sex with underage kids.

I have no idea how those laws are constitutional. I think they try to argue the intent being formed in the US gives enough contact for US jurisdiction. Kind of getting into the zip code of Minority Report.

We are so screwed. Landry is gonna be a terrible governor. He just wants the position and the power. Richard Nelson is the guy we should have all got behind.
