quote:
A. This Chapter shall not apply to any records having been used, being in use, possessed, or retained for use by the governor in the usual course of the duties and business of his office relating to the deliberative process of the governor, intra-office communications of the governor and his internal staff,
frick all that.
quote:
the governor's security and schedule, or communications with or the security and schedule of the
governor's spouse or children.
Yeah, that's fine, but it is already the case (scan up in the bill).
quote:
2) Notwithstanding Paragraph (1) of this Subsection, a record limited to predecisional advice and recommendations to the governor concerning budgeting in the custody of any agency or department headed by an unclassified gubernatorial appointee shall be privileged for six months from the date such record is prepared.
Screw that too. As soon as the budget is presented all that should become public too.

You need to read the crossed through as it provides, in layman's terms, what the intent of the bill is for.
quote:
Records of the office of the governor relative to fiscal or budgetary 19 matters, including but not limited to records of communications between the legislative auditor's office and the office of the governor relative to fiscal or 2 budgetary matters, shall be public records.
quote:
(3) Notwithstanding Paragraphs (1) and (2) of this Subsection, a record of the 4 office of the governor relating to intraoffice communications of the governor and his 5 internal staff may be privileged from disclosure.
quote:
(4) Notwithstanding Paragraphs (1) and (2) of this Subsection, any record of 7 the office of the governor pertaining to the schedule of the governor, his spouse, or 8 his child that contains security details that if made public may impair the safety of 9 the governor, his spouse, or his child may be held confidential for a period not to 10 exceed seven days following the scheduled event. However, nothing in this 11 Paragraph shall be interpreted or construed in a manner to make confidential all 12 records concerning a meeting or event that the governor attends and transportation 13 related thereto. The governor may keep a record concerning a meeting or event that 14 the governor attends and transportation thereto privileged for a period not to exceed 15 seven days after the occurrence of the meeting or event. 16 (5) For purposes of this Section, "office of the governor" means the governor, 17 his chief of staff, deputy chief of staff, and his executive counsel.
The revision is legal terms, that at best, leaves the intent of the bill more vague and should be reworded.

Inaccurate thread title. Jeff Landry never said he wanted his office exemp from public records law. A legislator filed a bill for that to happen.
Big difference..

Sure, the author of the bill just decided he wanted help out the governor for…reasons.

The more i read, "blatantly lied" may be a tad much. However, you're thread title is not accurate to the link provided and the bill text.

Here we go. Landry was quick to sue the feds for violating laws and now he wants no public record? How do you baws not see that he's a swamp scum? Yes, I like his stances and views, but I hate that he's a swamp politician.
Posted on 2/26/24 at 1:02 pm to whoa
No way this should ever happen.

It’s what libtards do. They lie and crap all over everything and post it as truth knowing once they post their lies their work is done because it causes the person they’re lying about to defend themself, which gives the aura of a bad look.
Just observe the edwards piranha lurking in this thread. They live for hit piece garbage like that.

This is bullshite. When they're spending the public's tax dollars, everything needs to be put in the open.

Uhm, this legislation would clearly limit the public's access to information they currently have.
Is the problem that the subject line implies the entire office would be completely exempt?

I wonder how much of this comes from the time he tried to sue an Advocate reporter (Andrea Gallo) for submitting a FOIA in order to get details on a sexual harassment claim against one of Jeff's employees at the AG's office? LINK
quote:
Landry sued Gallo on Feb. 5, almost two months after she filed a public records request to the attorney general’s office seeking the records of a sexual harassment investigation into Magee.
quote:
Aside from ordering the document’s disclosure, Kelley told Landry’s office it had to pay 25 hours worth of Gallo’s attorney’s fees at a rate of $225 per hour, bringing that total to $5,625.

It’s as if nobody ever seen a politician or politicians never morphed uses of laws into another form to get away with something

That bill has now been withdrawn.

disagree. the deliberative process should be done privately, to welcome all opinions. if a public record that does not always occur. give the executive all resources at his disposal to form policy/action.

Without reading, this is probably about records related to security of the gov and his family. Florida did the same thing and commies and another particular group melted down.
What about OUR security and OUR families?
If they feared reprisal from the people based on their actions, maybe they wouldn't partake in actions that would hurt us?

Anyone who doesn't read thru will feel like a moron once they understand. Landry is a great man. He won't do nefarious things.
