Jeff Landry Fumble

Governor-elect Jeff Landry has named 26-year-old Madison Sheehan to serve as Secretary of the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. Sheahan most recently served as director of South Dakota's Republican Party. “She's worked on legislation relating to wildlife, agriculture, and natural resources.
She knows nothing about salt water intrusion, nothing about coastal erosion, has never seen a redfish, knows nothing about vanishing wetlands, never caught a speckled trout. South Dakota and Louisiana have NOTHING in common.
Landry has fumbled on first and goal.
Everything the OP said is true...and yet:

Yeah sorry this doesn’t move the needle for me.
This is where I am, too. If he turns around the state, I can deal with this.
That said, again this was a political decision designed to pander to social conservatives (she's anti-trans in sports).

She’s never seen a redfish? Never caught a redfish? Where did you find this?
Coastal erosion is not the responsibility of the Secretary of LDWF. That’s CPRA.

I posted a thread about her appointment last week.
I'm going to do you a favor and NOT post her picture. You're welcome.

I’ve said all along that Landry was mostly phony, and that will prove to be the case with tort reform and some other hot button issues. Just keep your eyes open
Landry will be better than his predecessor simply by default. However, I don't expect him to do anything of note except a bunch of conservative "red-meat" social issues passed. I have my doubts he will do anything noteworthy to improve Louisiana's terrible business climate/economy.
He's a politician first and foremost. Anything thinking he is a "principled" Republican is a fool. His "principles" align with whatever he feels is necessary to get him elected at the time.

You freaks are coming out of the woodwork to criticize Landry for everything.

Definitely a huge factor in my choice of LDWF secretary. Does this affect the archery teams?

Landry said the first issue he would tackle is crime.
The first issue that he tackled is closed primaries. Something that he never even campaigned on.
Yea, I’m not optimistic.

Closed primaries is a HUGE deal for the future, however.

During a panel discussion on crime with journalists from across the nation on Thurs., Jan. 18, newly-appointed LSP Superintendent Robert Hodges said 130 troopers will be assigned to New Orleans.
“I rather not comment specifically on the exact things we’re going to do,” Hodges said. “Clearly it will be to eliminate violent crime and to provide public safety to our city everyday.”

Louisiana's Legislature is set to convene for an eight-day special session Monday during which lawmakers will discuss items that could impact how the state conducts elections.
The focus of the session is to redraw Louisiana's congressional map after a federal judge ruled that current boundaries violate the Voting Rights Act. Lawmakers also may explore moving away from the state’s unique “jungle primary” system.

Do you not have an AG's office in Louisiana?

No one in Louisiana qualified for this role?
nope, because they are all bought and paid for by lobbyists.

This seems really odd. What’s the connection?
the connection is she was great at the job and he brought her here to shake things up and make changes. you cant do that when they are already bought and paid for by lobbyists.
