Weird he held a different view during the Obama days. More and more it seems like Tapper just wants to be a contrarian journalist to incumbent administrations, for better or for worse.
Jake Tapper asks Obama's Secretary Carney why there was no due process in killing of Americans

Technically he’s right. The term due process is what’s used to describe all the rights an accused has (right to counsel, remain silent, face and cross examine your accuser, speedy and public trial, and on and on). Instead of saying all that we just say someone’s right to due process or due process rights, but due process is not an actual singular right.

No he's not. The phrase "due process" appears in actual wording of the 5th Amendment.

"No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation."

Which is why I have a hard time believing this. I think Tapper is one of the few who treat both sides of the aisle fairly. He was the first one to come out and say Michael Wolffe was full of shite when all of his colleagues wouldn’t shut the frick up about it.

There would be a video about online by now. As usual DawgfaninCA is delusional.

Guilty until proven innocent!

Or something like that...seriously.. who...why....what difference does it make anyway.

. . . and I am quite certain that he believes this to be true.

These mass media figures are mere propaganda puppets. They are ignorant because they received in University not education, but, rather rank indoctrination.

Tapper is an ignorant parrot who will repeat anything his Master tells him to repeat. When he is called to speak on his own, he usually demonstrated his utter ignorance, as he did on the occasion just referenced in the OP.

DawgFaninCA is a lunatic who thinks things no sane person can think. And there is no link, which I feel confident would have been posted. He’s not the corporate parrot most of his colleagues were and said that “Fire and Fury” was bullshite when his colleagues wouldn’t shut up about it. Tapper is probably CNN’s best journalist... not that that’s saying much.

That’s no where near as damning as DawgFaninCA said it was. The court of public opinion is different. OJ Simpson got off, but he’s damned in the court of public opinion.

if your link is what OP refers to, calling the thread title a stretch would be putting it far too kindly

If you ever say “The Court of Public Opinion”, the implication is that due process doesn’t matter on how people perceive you. Of course this went over his head

Whoa Commie.
Tapper's statement certainly could be seen to convey what the OP claimed.
Just wasn't quite as cut-and-dry as was intimated.

You didn't watch the clip, did you?

Are the words "separation of church and state" anywhere in there? Does it expressly grant a woman a right to an abortion? Or a non citizen the same rights as a citizen?

Umm, no it can’t. He said “Court of Public Opinion”. If you even bring it up, the phrase carries some connotations that anyone with an IQ above room temperature should be able to understand. He’s not saying “due process is not a constitutional right”.

In my opinion, I think that Sepp Blatter should be killed for the thousands of lives lost all for corruption and to watch men kick a ball up and down an open field. Does that mean that I don’t think he has the right to due process? No, but in the Court of Public Opinion, he is damned and in any reasonable person’s eyes should be killed for orchestrating a couple of 9/11s for the most petty, corrupt, and bullshite of reasons... but he still should go to trial first and get a fair hearing.

This statement by OP is true. He did say that.

quote:

Jake Tapper said Due Process is not a constitutional right

This is a direct transcript of what he said:

"President Trump had talked about the need for Due Process and obviously Due Process is a value that we all, that we all honor and respect. But Due Process is a courtroom term, not a morality term in real life."

At no point did Tapper say that Due Process is not a Constitutional right. The thread title is a lie.
