I'm sure no one in the NBA does care if Trump watches basketball. But I suspect they'd care if a large segment of the US population stopped watching it. And contrary to what those in the "bubble" may believe, Trump does have a lot of support throughout the country.
Die hard NBA fans are going to continue to watch no matter what. The people who didn't care about the NBA before all of this were never going to start caring now.
The casual fan is where the issue lies. By feeling the need to be the most virtuous of virtue signalers, I suspect the NBA has COMPLETELY UNNECESSARILY turned off more casual fans than they brought in by taking such measures.

This is the year I finally tried to give the NBA a chance again. Zion went to the Pelicans and seemed like a genuine guy. I enjoyed following him for the first part of the year. Then the shutdown and I was excited and waiting for it to return.
frick that. After what the NBA has done during this shutdown I will NEVER watch another game again.

The games last night were such welcome reprieve from the shitstorm we've been living in the past 4 1/2 months. Can't wait to see how the seeding games shake out. Go Pels!

If only the little punk-arse bitch from Duke would say this about me, too.

Well, in JJ’s defense, it was refreshing to read a tweet where I didn’t need to drop 40 iq points or need a translator to understand what he was saying. I may not agree, but bravo for composing a coherent tweet.

Well it appears the entire league cares because this wouldn't be happening under any presidents term with a different label

What a ringing endorsement for Duke University!

He's right, who cares if trump watches the NBA, but they will certainly care if his followers do.

Enjoy the games. Unlike the cancel culture,we respect your right to do so. However, since there is no length to which the left will go to link anyone in opposition to their agenda it is only fair that you understand by supporting the NBA and black lives matter you are by extension tacitly supporting all of the nefarious things which have occurred over the past two months which far exceed legitimate protesting. This goes far beyond a slogan on a jersey or statement on the sidelines and end ones.

I mean. I’m not agreeing with his political opinions, but since when is Reddick not a sharpshooter?

That’s exactly what they do believe. The “small” base consists mostly of people in rural areas (far from where games are played) where most of them can’t afford cable TV. No major loss in their opinion.

Fair enough. I really don't give a tinker's damn what JJ Red-dick or any other NBA player thinks concerning politics, or even what they think of the game of basketball for that matter. They're entertainers. Nothing more.

Whatever. The NBA is fan-tastic!

My question:
What were they trying to do by everyone kneeling during the anthem?
If it has nothing to do with the anthem/flag then why did they all coordinate to do it during that time? If you have a couple of people trying to make a public statement and catch attention I can see them trying to hijack a public moment Like the anthem; however, they had full solidarity to make some type of public statement. At that point why did they associate it with the anthem/flag if it was not to somehow disrespect the unity in which the anthem/flag is suppose to symbolize as we stand together as Americans.
The coordinated 100% kneeling may have been one of the dumbest spectacles I have ever seen in sports.
