Politics is about electing the person that most closely represents what you want, especially non-negotiables. For presidential primaries, it's about electing the candidate that most closely aligns with your values AND can win a national election, which was Drumph.

So again I say, I've never seen a group happy to return to sitting out or voting for their moral candidate, and losing the White House.

Couldn't agree more. 1000%

Individual freedom, smallest govt possible, lowest taxes possible, national defense (which includes border security), separation of church and state.

That's it...

This one would go a long way in bringing people back. Quit imposing the bible on every law. Quit trying to make it the national religion, or force it into schools. Have discussion over law using logic, not religion. Quit being scared of other religions, we have the constitution to protect our freedoms

Small gov and national defense needs to be worked out because our defense budget is unreal high.

Good luck getting the muh gas morons to sign off on massive budget cuts and tax increases. And let me guess, this true conservativism will require we once again turn a blind eye to porous borders as was the case with every other "conservative" POTUS of the last 60 years, except for this one?

but the crazy thing is he really doesnt even represent the values that most these people had before them.

He isn't small gov, He doesnt want to reduce taxes, he isn't curbing spending, he isnt draining the swamp, he isn't transparent. He isn't ending wars. he "owns the libs" and thats about the only thing that he does align with

Going back to actual right wing values and governance is being a "cuck"

Again, Would you rather have 100% of your values in a candidate and lose, or 75% of your values and win? Because that's the reason Trump won the primary in the first place, AND won two national elections.

Strict "conservatism" hasn't won a presidential election since the 80's. I guess maybe you could say GWB's first term was strict conservativism before the corporate bailouts.

Trump was a New York City nepo baby. He doesn't represent most southerners at all. You got conned. Its all public information that he was a registered Democrat for almost his entire life. Ill never understand why southern working class people ever believed a word he said. There's so much evidence of him being shady his entire life that it was impossible to miss.

This is nonsense. Nothing works like this. Its not one or the other

I would love people with actual positions and stances I agree with, that govern ruthlessly and effectively and deliver results.

I am fine with compromises on some issues

I do not want populism that just blows wherever the wind takes them and believes nothing

Laws are based on morality. Not vice versa.

This

Many people are unable to fathom that one can be conservative and still fight hard to win at every turn. It has led to a very week GOP in the past.

This. Just, this.

I have something to say about every one of your points but wanted to stop here as it was one of the more puzzling contradictions to me about "America first" MAGA people. Abdicating our leading role in the post WW2 order was just...a really bad idea. China and Russia jumped in and now have real advantages in much of the third world that they didn't have just 10 years ago. Just using one example, spending 0.6% of our budget on USAID was a wildly self-interested line item in the budget, better allowing us to impose our interests globally. Agree on stopping the stupid wars but our highly diminished standing on the world stage is not going to be helpful as we all battle it out over increasingly scarce natural resources. God damn so much of the actual policies behind "America First" were dumb as shite and so short sited. It's astonishing how dumb many of the people who ate that shite up are.

Trump treats the world like a board room. He is a bully. America should operate from a position of leadership, not as a dictator. Speak softly and carry a big stick. Trump forgot the first part.

Mitt Romney or Bob Dole isn’t winning an election.

An America first agenda that is actually delivered would.

Name the politicians who are?

Massie - wouldn't get 200 electoral votes
Paul - wouldn't get 150

we are not going against the Dem party from 1996
We are fighting a political war against gay commies and Islamic commies and all the 3rd world shite stains the "true conservatives" have let in the last 40 years

MAGA is not a traditionally conservative movement. It is a populist movement that relies on increased government power.

Flame away. MAGA Republicans calling traditional conservatives "RINOs" always cracks me up. MAGA is essentially 1980s conservative Democrat populism. It is why the Bernie Bros were more than happy to vote GOP in 2016.

I guess Trump believed he was exercising a bit of Global leadership when he was convinced the time to attack Iran was during the ramp up for the midterms.

One thing we have to be honest about, the republicans that many on this forum would claim are conservatives, like Reagan, Newt Gingrich, Romeny, Gerald Ford, Bob Dole, etc. are the same Republicans over the past 60 years that has gotten the US into such a dire situation.

Think about it, has it really hasn't mattered that much when the Rs have controlled the presidency and Congress at the same time? I don't think so, the DSA progressive agenda has continued to incrementally creep forward.

If conservatives want to stop the DSA they better get some conservatives who are willing to fight every bit as dirty and hard as their DSA opponents.
