MAGA is not a traditionally conservative movement. It is a populist movement that relies on increased government power.

*Limited government vs. MAGA expansion, especially executive
*Free trade and market competition vs. tariffs and protectionism
*Spending restraint and entitlement reform vs. continued record spending alongside tax cuts
*Respect for continuity of institutions through modification vs. destroying useful institutions because of past biases
*Global leadership in foreign policy vs. nationalistic isolation
*Focus on established principles vs. nationalism and party loyalty
*Traditional values and personal freedom vs. forced national morality

Flame away. MAGA Republicans calling traditional conservatives "RINOs" always cracks me up. MAGA is essentially 1980s conservative Democrat populism. It is why the Bernie Bros were more than happy to vote GOP in 2016.

Is this going to win the messaging battle?

No.

And you’re still right.

I've never seen people more eager to be cucks and return to getting their butts kicked politically just to say they have the moral high ground.

What would this take?

Would the elected GOP folks needs to change anything with how they operate?

If so, how on earth do you think we return to any type of conservatism?

Most elected Rs don't know what "true conservatism" is; shite most voting Rs don't know what it is.

It will take a true conservative president. The party will always follow the White House. The problem is that MAGA controls the party leadership. The next year will tell the tale. In the past, parties on the losing end of a beatdown have distanced themselves from the lame duck.

This was the mantra for most of my lifetime and we got our asses handed to us in almost every area during that span.

So good luck

Global leadership in foreign policy vs. nationalistic isolation

The latter had been the stalwart of Republican foreign policy prior to the infiltration of neoconservatives. There is absolutely nothing "conservative" about being the world's police.

Tons of them have been distancing themselves from Trump since day 1.

Doing so now is just a survival move.

Couldn't agree more. 1000%

Individual freedom, smallest govt possible, lowest taxes possible, national defense (which includes border security), separation of church and state.

That's it...

How does traditional conservatism work in an AI economy where the jobs are taken by robots?

free trade has never been conservative, reagan wielded tariffs like a battle axe, you're looking for the libtardtarian party.

Going back to actual right wing values and governance is being a "cuck"

Not just taking whatever position one person has

Got it

This platform would win in a LANDSLIDE. unfortunately MAGA has probably set the party back at least 2 election cycles. No one will believe what the GOP says for a while. We were straight up lied to.
