He will compare them to the Black Death if it provides an opportunity to bash Trump.

Who is leaving? There is a two week pause for negotiations. We either get what we want or the bombs start back up. No one is leaving yet.

If you’re an Iranian Leader, you now fully understand that Trump can and will kill you. Good chance whomever you replaced wasn’t in any shape for an open casket funeral.

That was my question. I assumed all assets would still be in place for two weeks….

That might happen even if they don’t try to develop a weapon. All it takes is for the Israelis to convince us they are trying and then we will kill the Iranians anyway. Might as well try.

Gaddafi gave up his nukes and died while being sodomized. Iran never developed nukes and got bombed anyway. Kim has nukes and is sitting fat and happy in NK.

What’s the lesson here? Develop nukes. You will either die before you are successful, or you will be safe once you have them.

Before the war, Iran faced heavy pressure on its nuclear program, disputed regional influence, and an outdated military.

So, it's legitimate to ask "what have we gained from all this".

Currently, the estimated cost of the conflict has risen to roughly $27–42 billion so far, with some projections nearing $45 billion. U.S. casualties currently stand at 13–15 service members killed and more than 300 wounded during the conflict.

After 38 days, Iran’s nuclear capability is likely still intact, its government has essentially stayed in power (i.e. the Republican Guard), and its regional position was largely unchanged. The main U.S. result was reopening the Strait of Hormuz, which was open prior to the conflict beginning anyway.

Critics argue the war ended with little strategic change: the U.S. returned close to its prewar position, but with weaker diplomatic leverage and renewed questions about acting without allied support such as NATO.

We’ve likely made the situation in Iran worse if we are done with the military operation.

Trump has made a few major mistakes in his handling of this, imo. Most importantly, the language of his most recent threat to Iran. He’s not going to get the support necessary to carry out any plan from the rest of the world or most of his own people when you threaten to end a civilization and include possible civilian targets.

Now, he put himself in a situation where there really isn’t a right answer. He’s opened himself up to be heavily criticized going forward no matter what his next move is.

I haven't been able to get comfortable and truly dig in and read a whole lot over the last two days. I know only the basics...

That said, what do any of us really know about the current leadership? How do we know they will behave in the exact same manner as the previous?

Simple question, if in 18 months Iran is starting their same old shite, do you think they could stop us if they wanted to then?

The US and Israel spent the last week targeting electronics manufacturers and production facilities. The current Chinese systems are ineffective vs gen 5 us tech and the Russian equipment is worse.

If they think there is a chance that the current leadership can stand up internally to the IRGC or that the population is in a position to overthrow the government, why not give it a chance? It is not like we can’t force project to the region in days to weeks.

Certainly there are some in Iran that think that way, but there are many that don't.

Shouldn't have kicked that hornet's nest to begin with

Trump is a moron
Jumping to conclusions at this point. Ironic that people that loved the prior administrations and their literally giving billions of US taxpayer dollars to Iran now find an issue with kicking the nest of country that has consistently shouted “death to America” for almost 50 years.

Weak.
