They're "cutting the budget" (they aren't) by getting rid of employees they should keep.

It's idiotic. Not a single USFS or NPS employee should be let go until the AFT has been completely dismantled. When is that going to happen?

Yeah but are we suggesting the forest service even comes in the same stratosphere as healthcare and military waste?!? To act like the country can’t afford this is a laugh riot when looking across our expenditures.

Muh rounding error again.

I can “afford” a $125k truck. Is it wise to spend that much for a depreciating “asset”.

Lets .ake a friendly wager that your ability to enjoy federal lands will not change in any meaningful qay whatsoever due to these probationary employees being fired.

No need for us to have 1,000 “new hires” park rangers in the first place. Cut them first then go for the bureaucrats next.

It’s fair to question firing low level employees when there is plenty of waste and higher dollar employees to focus on first. Getting rid of some excess Generals and Admirals saves more than Park employees.

Don't worry. It's working as it should.
If they are essential, they'll be back on the job soon.

How can you possibly know this. What if some of these probationary hires were bad?

The Parks budget is bloated. They have to make cuts, and it's the people running The Park Service who decided to cut probationary hires.

This is just The Guardian and Reuters lying and framing it as Trump's fault. And the overly emotional idiots fall for it every time.

New hires are MUCH easier to terminate than people at the top of the food chain

It sounds like any employee considered probationary got canned because you can terminate them at any time with no effort.

What I'm suggesting is that there will be non-stop criticism at every turn of a serious downsizing. It's going to hit the private sector too. It's going to throw more people into govt dependency, which engenders more costs and cuts. Cutting healthcare and defense will be the most contentious of all, because those sectors are critical for everyone from time to time.

As important as our national forests may be to some, this is low hanging fruit when the cutting starts. And if we choose to stay the current course and make no hard cuts, we may eventually end up burning them for fuel anyway.

I would suggest taking a minute on this.

The national park service was recruiting gays and trannies and a bunch of them could be in their probationary period.

The last evil admin was trying to commie up everything with people that hate America. The park service was one of their attempts to commie us up.

This.
This.
This.

I'm an avid park user and advocate. Some of the circles that put me in disgusted me before 2025...their reactions now fall in line with my prior assumptions and the theme of your reply. A major cull is needed. These are some of the most insane, delusional, entitled facking leftists in the country.

I also love the idea mentioned earlier about making foreigners pay double. I'm sick of uncouth tourists who crowd our most precious spaces. Hell, it recently took me over 20 minutes to hitchhike in a crowded national park because half the folks spoke no English and the other half seemed on guard and afraid of everyone.

Canadians do tend to overwhelm the campsite reservation system. Try getting a reservation at Priest Lake northern Idaho.

Ah, I see we are finally getting this figured out:

I doubt it. You still think the federal government, for the first time in history, implemented an efficient and useful process to determine who to let go.

I’m also in favor of park rangers, but with all of the fraud and waste that has been exposed, it might be better to just fire everyone in the government and just start over

It's OK to admit this is idiotic.

So, AFT. When's that happening again?
