He likely has no interest in organized religion, he's seen how easily they fall into corruption and selfishness and he has no tolerance for that, but he clearly has a very special relationship with our Lord. and its mutual, God knows Trump is the only one who can save his blessed nation, we are His best and chosen few, and he sent Trump to deliver us from satans son Obama

Obvious satire.

very true but I dont believe Trump falls into that category, he's a humble and virtuous man, devotion to our Lord is a natural extension of those qualities

Trump has been through hell the past 3 years. He had received spiritual guidance from various religious leaders during that time. On numerous occasions they have gathered together and prayed for him. Nobody knows his heart. That’s between he and God.

Paula White is closer to a 2nd century Gnostic mystic than a Christian teacher.

It doesn't take much intelligence to throw some bait out there, but it does take enough to make the bait look semi-realistic. Whatever that threshold is, you fall short.

Nothing he has ever done or said makes me believe he’s anything more than a cultural Christian deist, but I really don’t care.

I do find it baffling that we’re in the year 2020 and it’s still basically impossible for a politician to get elected to any position above the local level without espousing at least a superficial belief in a god. Women, Muslims, homosexuals, racial and ethnic minorities all had that door opened before those who reject religion.

youre falling into the same dull trap the prog filth does, youre mistaking Trumps public bravado for his true heart. Yeah he says big things but its just verbal sparring, the man is a fighter in every way, its fun for him. You see it more in guys from Boston but its the same with him, hes just bustin chops in hopes someone can keep up and give as good as they get. Its a laugh, its a brilliant mind bored by all the dull ones around him and looking for a challenge.

The man is a billionaire playboy, hes Bruce Wayne, and he threw that all way for a thankless government job. he loses several million dollars a day doing this, to serve us. You dont do that if your selfish or empty.

This isn't true.

An atheist could easily win an election (at least a dem could, since an R wouldn't get through primary)

In fact, I think a dem overtly running on their atheism would do very well in a dem primary in states like wisconsin, mass, california, wash, oregon, etc.

Absolutely not, and it’s why every campaign manager makes sure their candidate offers at least a casual drive by acknowledgement of god.

Even in the bluest of states, the largest single voting block are still the Christians and studies show even the most liberal Christians have an inherent distrust of atheists. Atheism is a total non-starter for Hispanics and blacks as well.

Curious, what does the calendar date have to do with an omnipotent being? Are we so advanced now because we’ve passed the magical year 2000?

Also you:

Religious faith is lived out in legislation, at the ballot box, in our classrooms, etc. If someone sees their society being shaped by a worldview they perceive as nonsensical, it is entirely reasonable to be concerned about faith.

Which is it? Is faith worth being concerned over or not? And if it is, then why are you puzzled that lack of faith concerns people?

I couldn’t care less if he’s religious as long as he protects my right to be religious.

I love those statement when they're attached to a specific value. "It's 2020; how can you be against gay marriage?" I always ask them what moral value do they hold right now that they'll be ridiculing in 20 years; I never get an answer.

I suspect that in terms of personal life, he is as religious as King David.

We know that David had his weak areas of his life, like we all do. But what was it about David that God would describe him as “a man after God’s own heart?”

God is the judge!

The degree of religion espoused by Donald Trump isn’t what concerns me. His actions and beliefs are minimally if at all effected by what appears to be a very superficial belief in the supernatural.

But why does it concern you in other people? And since it does, why are you so surprised that others use it as a metric as well?
