As much as is said about Murrill and Landry being anti- New Orleans , nothing could be further from the truth.
First of all, this indictment is a big political nothing burger . Charges will be thrown out by either the appellate court or Supreme Court.
This is all for show by a certain group in New Orleans in retaliation of the reduction of judges and consolidation of the clerks office in New Orleans.
Do you realize that peak population in New Orleans pre Katrina was almost 700,000? Now it’s about half or 350,000. Reduction and consolidation was absolutely necessary.
Landry restored an entire state trooper force in New Orleans. Murrill’s office agreed to place state prosecutors in New Orleans to help out the criminal docket arising out of the trooper arrests . Crime ,including murder, is at a historic low. Tourism is up.. Ever notice the removal of the homeless camps underneath the Interstate? You can thank New Orleans but Murrill and Landry were involved.
I’m not sure of Moreno’. Involvement in this . She has been a blessing so far as mayor. I would hate to see a schism between her and Murrill.

I think it's great, it's gonna shine a light on the politics. In that city and how corrupt the whole organization is. they are bringing attention to themselves. That they shouldn't have as far.

But stupidity is their strong point.

And honestly, there is zero chance they come out successful

It's ridiculous.

If they're within their rights to merge offices the indictment is illegal retaliation.

If not, the proper remedy would have been to get the mergers thrown out by the courts.

Well, to be fair, it’s actually great news for Liz Murrill. These arse clowns in New Orleans have pretty much guaranteed that following Landry‘s governorship, Liz Murrill will be the next governor of Louisiana..

Really! What has she done? I keep hearing this from people but I see no proof.

The mayor bar is very low in NO.

If you don't sleep with you body guard, act the fool in bars or fly around on the city's $$$ you are a blessing in New orleans.

I think the words you are looking for are "malicious prosecution." One day, through subpoenas and discovery, we will find out exactly who was behind this and everyone who was involved. Criminal charges will follow and Liz Murrill is probably looking at a big payday.

Liz seems to be about handling legal business in a very professional and ethical manner. I’m interested in hearing more about the charges a grand jury was given and what it found but as I have heard before a DA can can have a grand jury indict a ham sandwich. New Orleans and its politics have been known corrupt forever. But I can’t wait to hear the charges and to watch the New Orleans legal system that was made to comply with the same number and rules as the rest of the State spin the trial of our Attorney General.

Frick New Orleans. It is a cesspool and a cancerous tumor on the whole state of Louisiana.
Plaza Tower, 6 flags, naval support facility, Charity hospital all rotting away just like the POS city.

She’s neck deep in it. And “schism” doesn’t even begin to capture what is about to happen to the city of New Orleans. And as another poster pointed out, she’s been far from a blessing for the city.

So let ALL of the evidence be made public. Graft is not a Constitutional Right and proving that ballots are indeed legal is, as the Rights of citizens to not have their vote cancelled.

Confrontation across the board is imminent. It’s either v or.

Charges were malfeasance in office and intimidation of public officials IIRC.

Not sure how they got malfeasance but the “intimidation” was the letter sent detailing what would be the legal consequences of usurping the clerk of court office.

Sadvocate has joked that the NO City Council has also indicted LA State Troopers for telling them that speeding can result in a ticket.

The Louisiana Supreme Court already granted an emergency stay of the indictment.

The LA Supreme Court issuing orders after hours before a holiday weekend. This indictment is dead and Laurie White should be nervous.

The only thing the City accomplished yesterday was guaranteeing a massive influx of federal investigators sweeping the city clean before a cat can lick its arse.

How is not a form of executive action as part of her elected function of the office?

She sent a public letter stating that if they attempt to appoint an interim person to the role that they were in violation of the state constitution?

That is not “intimidation” it’s stating the facts. Had she called the person involved in a non public and non official capacity then maybe. But this was public.

Not a good look for the corruption in NO. They are likely to lose even more. State can just take over the clerk positions all together.

Not disagreeing with you at all. This is the logic they apparently used in getting the indictments, though.

My biggest worry is that the bar is so incredibly low that by showing up and even remotely coherently acknowledging some issues exist - the population is going to give her a carte blanche free pass for years.

We will see what she does with it but it’s undeniable that she’s at least part of how we got to this point in the first place and we haven’t packed up all the dysfunction with Latoya
