If I get anything it will be divided up among my adult kids and the remainder will be spent at local restaurants, local hardware stores, nurseries, etc and I will become a bigger tipper.

So let me get this straight... Big companies will get bailed out, while small businesses are likely to get nothing. And those making less than $150K (couple) or $75K (individual) get $1k/adult and $500/kid, but the upper middle class gets nothing? What a crock of sh*t!

Socialism for a few, austerity for the rest.

You just summed up nearly exactly why we are in this trouble to begin with.

At least now everyone can make their payments on their phones, shoes, and laptops.

#BREAKING: Senate GOP are considering direct cash assistance to Americans as part of a stimulus package:

*$1,200 check per person for those who make up to $75K
*Phased out at $95K
*Lowered $5 for each extra $100
*Add $500 per child
*No money for those with income of $99,000+

I don't care about getting money if they keep the stimulus relatively "small" and target it to those who are genuinely taking it on the chin for the rest of us.

But when it inevitably balloons in negotiations AND they're still trying to cut out a huge swath of people deemed too wealthy, then it's pretty annoying.

A shite ton of 150k families are probably going to be cash strapped in the coming few months. 150k living out in rural Alabama is a lot different than some couple and 2 kids doing in Nashville.

Single, and it's assumed joint is the 150K figure floated earlier today.

Enrollment in college (demand) goes up during economic downturns.

Girl on FB wanting to know if she will get a check, she hasn't worked since September 2018 but deserves one because she can't find a job.

I don’t need it. But If I get a check I will spend it where the economy is hurting. I’ll tip more and maybe eat out a bit more. I do feel for those in the service industry. I suggest those who don’t need the boost do the same.

Well if it phases out at $100K I’m out and I’m ok with that. Get it to those who need it. I’m fortunate enough.

Ok those who have not worked since 2018 with record low unemployment do not deserve a check.

My favorite response to this is "Well you can afford it then".

Infuriates me.

i wouldnt be. IF (and thats a big IF) there has to be a cutoff, it needs to be 250k

but honestly, how much do you save with this threshold?
