Gary Johnson was governor of neighboring New Mexico so he had way more name recognition and support in Arizona than in most states.

Johnson pulled 4% of the vote in Arizona last time, that's a fairly significant amount. He got 3.3% in Nevada as well. He got 37K votes in a state Trump only lost by 27K.

The libertarian candidate this time around is basically a non-factor and will get 1% or less.

A huge chunk of those Johnson voters might not vote at all this time, but the ones that do actually vote will vote for Trump over Biden.

I personally know of 3 Johnson voters who are all supporting Trump this time. I scolded them for voting Johnson the first time around and they mostly did it because they didn't like either candidate and wanted to protest vote and they also thought it wouldn't matter, that Trump had no chance, etc.

The lack of Libertarian defections this time around will help Trump nationally a tiny bit, but especially in Arizona and Nevada.

I was a libertarian voter for the previous two presidential elections. I will be voting for Trump this year. I don’t know how Jo is doing relative to Gary.

Maybe Jo will pull some of the voters who just show up to vote on pot.

Yeah New Mexico was obviously Johnson's best state, he got 9.35% there, 74K votes

Trump lost by 65K.

I don't think New Mexico will be in play, but it should be much closer.

There were 17k Mormon voters in AZ that voted for McMuffin last time too. They're not going to break for Biden.

Gary had a lot more Libertarian momentum four years ago than Jo does this time around.

Yep, third party candidates in general were getting way more buzz in 2016 because both major candidates were considered "unlikeable"

There has been 0 buzz about them this time, no debates, no discussion, they effectively don't exist this time around.

Same here, I regret my 2016 vote. The lockdowns will have pushed every Johnson voter firmly to Trump. Wonder how many Jill Stein voters Biden picks up because I imagine none of them are voting for Trump.

I almost was one. I really didn't like or trust Trump. I hated the lying Ted nonsense.

When push came to shove, I voted Trump because Hillary was so horrible.

This election, I am voting for Trump for Trump.
