I'm tired of hearing the "meet in the middle" or "both parties working together" bullshite. You don't compromise with communists who hate America, which is what the left is. In today's political world if you run as a dimocrat, you are essentially supporting the destruction of America. There is no reason to vote for any dimocrat in any election.

I see this is your reply on many posts.

So, YOU helped create this bullshite situation we're in... cities burning, fricktarded national media, civil unrest, blocked streets, shutdown.

Now you want us to open our arns to you because the monster YOU created has grown too big and too crazy to control?

Really?

You are a smart guy, typically thoughtful responses although I don’t necessarily agree with them.

Maybe that’s naive of me but I cannot and I will not go down the road the far left is taking us.

I wonder what has taken people like you so long. I ask my liberal friends all the time, how do you reconcile all the things you seem to support with action? It has only accelerated in the past few years.

And just know most of us “trump supporters” came to this realization several years ago. Those on the left seem to want to label us as brainwashed, duped, etc. in reality I think most of us have felt some degree of what you are feeling right now, that we are fighting against something, rather than for it.

The left is dangerous, and their “plan” will ultimately eat them all alive.

Significant police reform must and will happen, but it has gone way way way beyond that at this point.

And this is what I mean, 2 weeks ago we needed police reform, now we want to abolish the police altogether? That’s a huge leap, but who do they expect to clean up their mess when their little experiment ultimately fails?

I don’t have a registered party affiliation btw...I never wanted to associate with a part since I have no control over where their platform might land.

Sorry, but that's just dumb.

If anything, Democrats at the local level tend to me more insane and extreme than their Federal level counterparts.

I think it's great that you're kinda, sorta, possibly beginning to open your eyes, but I don't know what to tell you.

If the actions of the past few months haven't shown you that Trump, the guy you DESPISE, is the ONLY Firewall standing between your FREEDOMS and the nutjobs on the Left, I don't know that you'll ever get there.

What more do these intolerant loons have to show you?

It takes aptitude, courage, and wisdom to allow positive change to take seed. Seriously.

Never let your emotions cloud the reality. Practice patience when you are confronted with a poor habit and endure the pain of an honest gain.

Posters are busting your balls, but your OP indicates a step in the right direction.

Personally, I welcome it. You have questioned your loyalty. You are seeing what decades of continuous liberal policy have done to areas of America. Nothing wrong with that.

You do understand that these far left agendas DO start at the local levels don't you? Look at this defunding the police bullshite and where it is starting. What more proof do you need as far as local politics being a cancer to national politics?

Independents caucus 100% with Democrats.Just be honest and change to Democrat. All changing to Inde. will do for you is give you an imaginary non-biased opinion. Your candidates will still caucus with Democratic filth.

I was a democrat, then independent and finally a true conservative, and the only option for a true conservative, with all its faults, is the republican party.

I got tired of worthless and stupid independent candidates, jumped on the libertarian band-wagon. Would love it if the libertarians could stand up a decent candidate, but they put forward one moron after another. Love the ideology, hate the party's execution of said ideology.

I have disagreed with you 90% of the time, but I respect your ability to argue a point and your commitment to even posting here while outnumbered 100 to 1. I'm ready to listen too and have changed my mind on a few things recently. I just hope we can all agree that the cancel culture is dangerous and will lead us to a very dark place.

Because none of us think that your request for dialogue is genuine. We all correctly assume that your mind is made up and it is not gonna be changed but you’re using this simply Troll everybody on the board to show how you gave it a chance but you remain unconvinced

Neither can I. This has been nagging at me for some time. I'm done.

i know both of you get shite on too much, and i've started a few arguments with you DS, but wish more conservatives would take the big tent approach of saying to people, "we're not perfect, and America is not perfect, but we're the best the world has right now and we want to improve it, not bring down the whole system."

on texags there is a longtime liberal gay poster, who has recently said he can't tolerate what the far left is doing as well and left the democratic party. he too gets vilified when he comes on to criticize Trump. We need to stop claiming Trump is sole arbiter of conservatism. He's not conservative. he's more right on policy than he is wrong IMO, but there's plenty to criticize there.

instead of saying "yeah but you still won't vote for Trump." we need to encourage the idea of not being tied to either party and trying to win in the court of ideas instead of shaming somebody who's open to change. Trump is far from perfect and has a lot of glaring issues that his followers gloss over. Instead of just telling people to ignore those, convince them how the world view of conservatism, warts and all, is better than the chaos the left is sending us down with progressism.

Toddy, DS, don't care who you vote for, but it's good to have people recognize that the leftist shift over the last few years isn't good for America or the world.

So You can't get on board with the all-new militant, anti-white platform of the democrat party?

You don't appreciate being called a racist, despite having committed your life to being better than your ancestors?

You don't understand how shuddering police departments will suddenly elevate black communities already decimated with crime?

You don't see how more violent rioting and lawless behavior makes police more likely to trust the black communities they serve, or makes those black comunities less likely to fear police donning full military crowd control gear?

You cringe thinking back to the beautiful progress made in race relations throughout the 70's , 80's, and 90's ironically get destroyed by our nation's first black president?

Welcome to the party, pal

I disagree. The republican party is not much different than the democrats, they will do what is needed to hold on to power. They serve their own agenda instead of the peoples'. The founding fathers knew this.

That is why I switched from republican to independent last year. I doubt I will ever join a party again in my lifetime, even if I agree 100% with the platform.

I hope one day we can do away with political parties, or at least take party affiliation off the ballot.

Sometimes compromise is good. However, they push so far to the left that compromise is still way left. Then, as soon as they get the compromise, they start pushing farther left for another compromise. Rinse repeat. I’d like to see compromise where the shift is to conservative favor.
