If you buy an old missille silo, you’re first on the list of Russia and chinas drop map. Good luck with that location!!!

if you buy a 600k bunker because of fear then why even buy it? Spend your money on getting out and enjoying life.

it would be out of fear of the money becoming worthless or confiscated or something.

I guess the better question is...

do people in here think we'll live in a society where retirement is a thing and the economy/country aren't destroyed.. in... 10 years?

Are you genuinely concerned enough about the direction of the country to spend, say, 650k, on a property with a 50x10 underground bunker with all the filtrations, solar and thousands of dollars worth of food.

let's say the property has some acreage. with pasture land, chickens, and fruit trees, and some outbuildings but no residence. it is within an hour of your current residence.

the investment would take its hit on your retirement but it is feasible.

would you?

It doesn't take that much money and you'd better build one bigger than 50x10 ... unless you're talking about simply burying a shipping container.

But yeah, I have ..... well, yes, we're prepared. And we're not "scared" or "worried" for just that reason, because we're prepared. But it's been a way of life for my family since before I was born ... and now I'm a grandfather with teenaged grandkids.

There are a lot of families like mine out there .... for a lot of reasons. It's all science to us from how-to as well as why-to.

Since Covid I’m less optimistic of a cushy retirement and leaning more towards collapse and hardships.

What you makes you so scared? Seriously being angry and fearful isn’t healthy

What makes you such an idiot? Seriously, being so pathologically hubristic and egocentric as-to assume this has anything to-do with fear, or that it is conducive to an unhealthy lifestyle, makes you incredibly naive and pathologically ignorant so, in essence, you're on the spectrum.

Ask yourself why all the people in this country worth $300 million or more own very elaborate bunker type shelters (at least one) and or are members of shtf teotwawki post apocalyptic retreats.

Ask yourself why Zuckerberg is spending $650 million right now building one in Hawaii. They all have them.

Ask yourself why there are so many bug out retreats in Idaho, Montana and Wyoming for the Hollywood mega wealthy.

I am always surprised how many people express the desire to give up rather than do everything in their power to survive. Personally I will do everything I can to preserve my life and go out on my own terms.

I've never owned a bunker and it's doubtful that I ever will, but I won't look down my nose at anyone who does.

I don't know the engineering involved in making an underground bunker work in South Louisiana, but I wouldn't want to ride a major hurricane out in one. Odds are it would flood.

Amen

Not only that but for those of us men, with families, we prepare and take all necessary steps and actions to provide security and stability for our progeny. That's the aim of our species. That's why we procreate.

Men, in particular, we are driven to do the right things for our spouses, offspring, animals, etc. We provide for them, we protect them. We buy insurance even .... auto insurance, homeowner's insurance, life insurance, hospitalization and major medical insurance, supplemental insurance, etc., etc., etc.

Yet so many refuse to invest in prepardness insurance ... or to even try to understand the necessity of such.

Those are people, especially when it comes to the men .... they're cucks. They have no survivor mentality in their DNA. There's not an Alpha or Type T bone in their cuck omega bodies. I honestly despise being around those types. I avoid them at all costs. They're here strictly for the moment and they're all about themselves. They're like leeches and rats ... they couldn't care less about family or offspring or anyone else. They believe it will always be someone else's responsibility to take care of them when times get tough .... and times always do, get tough, get very rough.

We call those people 'dog food.' They're the ones that the dogs will eat.

It's happened many many times before. It will, most definitely, happen again.

That set up would cost a lot more then $650K in Florida. A very small bunker for one person alone cost $40K from the biggest bunker builder in the country. I hope to have all of the things listed at our next house but the Bunker. I can’t afford a bunker. Wouldn’t be a bad thing to have considering a lot of the super wealthy people are buying them .

If I had the means, I’d find and seal up the bunkers of the elites.

Let em fully enjoy the fruits of their efforts along with everyone else whenever the shite finally hits the fan.

A bunker doesn't have to be underground.

We designed and built one for an artist in Lake Charles. Well, his home is in Lake Charles his bug out bunker location is in .... I dunno. I just remember going north sort of along this river to this property he had bought that was only 50-something feet above sea level (on a local hill) and I remember we would drive like 45 minutes northeast of his track to get to this town of Kindred, or Kinderd maybe? We stayed in a hotel there, ate there, etc. Picked up various supplies there.

Guy is a helluva painter, knife maker, carver ... one of the most talented people I've ever been around. We drank a bottle of some outstanding bourbon when I handed him the CoO for that place. Nothing perked out there, it was amazing. But tons of game and fishing and fresh water and it was not easy to get-to. He's since sent me pictures of his solar set-up and he's now got three anchored, sealed and waterproofed shipping containers out there.

Point being, where there's a will there's a way.

Well honestly…I’ve lived 51 good years. I’ve lost a lot and through that have learned things on earth are fully temporal. I know where I have punched my ticket for my destiny when I check out of here.

Should I find myself in “need” of a bunker in this life, chances are I won’t find living this earthly life worth sweating that so no, I’ll cash my chips in and move on to my eternal home.

If I do one it will be above grade with mounded earth on top. I have a hillside but it’s not in a very accessible point on the property.

exactly. and while we have plenty of food, water, and pew pews at our house there will be an inevitable point where some gang comes a looking and we wouldn't be able to put up much of a fight.

I can't imagine the pain of that realization while huddled with your family hoping for a miracle.

especially if it could've been prevented or even postponed.

at the same time. I wouldn't want to harm my children's future in the event that society DOESNT collapse..

prayer I suppose.

That's the way to go. Do it munitions bunker style and put a lot of thought into forward facing direction, aerodynamics, your ingress and egress (ALWAYS have two) and any other structural or otherwise stability issues you may run into with weight and settling, waterproofing, etc.

It can be done on a budget.
