In swinging door so it can’t be blocked from opening but would need reinforcing bars on the inside. I would want it coming into a 90 degree turn with second door and a kill slot so you could defend from inside in case of a breech. Would also want a back hidden escape route. Would like to do welded steel with some concrete reinforcing then three feet of earth on top. My land is high enough it could be partially sunk.

not a bunker, but we did recently move out of a high population density area of a blue state to a more rural setting in a very red state with some acreage and like-minded community. a wide variety and quantity of preps has long been in place for us.

"the direction of the country" wasn't the sole reason but it certainly helped solidify the move

I have the means, and no, I won’t. If it is required the only way you’ll get to your bunker is if you happened to be right outside it when it became necessary. And the odds of that are slim.

I live in the country. No bunker but I am working on plans to fortify the house.

If I was younger and had the money, sure I would. But since I am now 67 and live on a large corner lot, I put metal bars on my breezeway, around the courtyard and both driveways with lacing so that even my vehicles are protected and not visible. If I am ever attacked, well, I have firearms, will go down like Tony in Scarface...

Absolutely! Without question.

But alas, I don't have the ability to purchase, construct, stock, and maintain a living space in a bunker so then I'll just hope I'm evaporated in the first nanoseconds of a thermo-nuclear blast. If it be that God approves that I die this way.

But what I really hope happens to me - the God of Abraham will see my name written in the Book of Life and will sent angels (my Guardian Angel included) to bring me and my loved ones home....as in the Rapture.

I've lived long enough to understand the ONLY thing worth believing in this world is that God is real, He died for me, He loves me.....AND....he wants me to join Him for all eternity in a place so breathtakingly beautiful I cannot even imagine such beauty. [Did you know that in heaven even the springs and streams sing?] I know the place exist because the Bible tells me it exist.....

So we read of, Things no eye has seen, no ear has heard, no human heart conceived, the welcome God has prepared for those who love him.
- 1 Corinthians 2:9

God is merciful and kind, slow to anger and gentle of heart. I know that cause He let me live when I was moments away from death. Now I know why, my work was not finished here.

Jesus, I trust in you.

Smart move.

Metal roofs, 3M composite glass membranes, fortified (sand bagged) flood vents. Door and window perimeter reinforcements. Flower bed bastions. I always advise clients to start there.

Extra roof reinforcement and tie downs are important in some areas.

Know your location. Know your threats both socially and from mother nature, outside forces, etc., and plan and prepare from there.

Doing it is simple ... it's just not that easy because it takes being committed and taking that first step.

Doors better be water tight. Otherwise, you own an indoor pool.

I have friends/family with that mindset. id prefer to not have to kill people to acquire things I could acquire without killing people.

seems slightly more honorable.

there are a bunch, west of St.Louis in Defiance i believe, at Busch Wild Life, a bunch of lakes, and many bunkers

always wanted to go in one, but they seemed to be locked.

guess they were for the busch family as the peasants burn

I going to walk outside and watch the nukes blow.
I don’t want to be alive after that . It would be a living hell. Sit in your bunker until you have to face it later. Nope .

It is very very unlikely that there will be nukes used to destroy structures and people.

Nations at war have rarely rendered conquered land unusable.

Nukes will be used to induce EMPs. EMPs will destroy the grid. Destroy the grid and 90% of our population dies-off within one year .... from starvation, disease and violence.

Iran will have nukes by Easter. North Korea already has them as does China, of course. Our grid is vulnerable.

The old myth of watching the mushroom clouds go-up ... that ain't gonna happen.

Then you don't need/want it bad enough, people will be dyeing during the process.

More than likely, you'll take your own life because of weakness.

That was my thought....

If I legitimately thought we were headed for societal collapse and needed to do something, I'd sell all of our shite, get on plane with a suitcase and go start over somewhere else.

Nah I'll pass. At my age I don't need all the drama. Plus from what I know about the nature of man, the thought of being coupled up in a hole with anyone is not my ideal of living. I'll trust my soul to my LORD.
