FISA is unconstitutional to begin with. He should have gotten rid of it REGARDLESS.

Trump's not the one who can stop the abuse and only congress can authorize FISA. My guess is Trump had no clue about the extent of FISA abuse when he was president like he does and we do now.

Trump made public comments about not extending FISA because of the abuses and lack of trust - here's a quote:

“This is the act that may have been used, with the help of the discredited and phony Dossier, to so badly surveil and abuse the Trump Campaign by the previous administration and others?

And then turned around and signed the f'n extension of FISA into law.

Do you think today Trump is ok with extending FISA today?

I hope not, but then again I had that hope right before he extended it in 2018.

Just like Democrats they'll say, "THIS time it will be different...that wasn't real MAGA."

He knew the FBI spied on him pretty early on. He still appointed Chris Wray. Trump didn’t do isht.

Who should have gotten rid of FISA? Trump? Remember, an R controlled House and Senate couldn't even repeal Obamacare and build a wall and they had the power to do so and years to plan and prepare.

Trump had the power to terminate FISA..... please explain.

But once again the thread has devolved into Anti Trump whining.....the question in the OP is,

Should Johnson be jettisoned if he extends FISA?

But what kind of shoes was he wearing when he signed the bill? Asking for a friend.

Always the helpless victim. Yet, the only one that can save us!!

Trump has virtually no allies in Congress. He’s not getting rid of FISA.

Whree did I say he did? I commented on his FBI appointment. Which sucked. Care to comment about that? Or would you like to build another strawman?

They were very presidential. This is true. And he wore a power tie.

Oh. Well in that case it doesn’t matter if he lied. The democrats made him do it.

He couldn't even pass on a CR man. Pretty much immediately went with it. He's nothing.

That’s good but he may need to keep his powder dry right now instead of blowing it on a battle he knows he can’t win. There needs to be more MAGA republicans and less GOPe/Pentagon/Intel republicans.

no

some form of it will have to go through though, this is just the bargaining stage because too many rinos want it so it cant just end it.

the devil is in the details here, i want to see serious pulling back on things in it with checks and balances and safeguards added

If they dump Johnson then the party is lost for years with the fracture that will occur. It’s barely hanging on anyway but we can’t take anymore uncompromising positions that peel off support. Our goal should be much greater than singular issues by different factions within the party. We have no party loyalty and wonder why we lose.

If FISA was really that necessary, everyone, including judges, that abused it should be thrown in prison first.
