Dude. Death benefit is a whopping $255. That should help.

SSA death benefit

It’s a pointless amount

I've paid the max for decades. Give me back that money that was stolen from me, plus 5% compounded, which is less than if I'd have invested it, and you'll never hear from me about it again..

Would you support raising the age SS benefits kick in to 70 and stop allowing any early starts even for reduced benefits?

The government wants you to take SS early. The average of death is around 77 for both sexes but for those that reach 62-65 it is up to around 85-90. SS breakeven point is around 80, so most who take it early will end up getting less money over an average lifespan. The government wins.

Dude! That is a lump sum benefit. The actual monthly benefit will be based on the higher wage earner's income.

It's hardly a money grab. Try harder.

It's more like a government skimming operation where "Trust Fund" interest is typically paid at a rate lower than government created inflation.

Even though I am getting close to drawing my SS pennies, I would gladly give up drawing SS if I knew my kids would never have to pay in to that system

Can I cash out or no?

This ^^^^ has always been my solution.

If the federal government would fork over between $1.5-2 million to cover the 15.3% of the total Social Security and Medicare taxes taken from the wife's and my lifetime earnings over the past 45 years compounded at 5% annually .........I'm good with that.

I noticed you conveniently left out the part where I stated the money (15.3%) taken from our income over +45 years is compounded at 5%...... I wonder why you conveniently left that out?

It doesn't read that way. Are you and your wife self employed?

Doesn't matter because you made the number up any way to try and prove a point.

I paid in to the system since 1978. Can I have my money back so I can put it in an IRA or stocks?

I'm listening to this interview, and I am 4 minutes in and he's said nothing wrong.

So far all he talked about was the waste in SS.

Of course he didn't say anything wrong, because he did not SAY ANYTHING! Kernan asked him a direct question, and as usual he could not answer with any details or specifics about rolling back entitlements. Just another campaign speech for the cult. All he said was "there's lots that we could do".

Except they'd have to borrow it to give to you. And you'll be paying it back in the form of taxes (or inflation) in the future.

There will be no it’s to current benefits. There may be some sort of indexing at some point.

Well one thing he didn’t say was cut SS.

And that’s what’s being spread as what he said.

So the point is they continue to just lie and people eat up these lies.

I know you didn’t on this one, but perhaps some others.

Trump never said any of those things and you know it. You're a bald face liar for posting that. Posters like you who post such blatant lies should be permanently banned. Just my opinion.
