I have a very good friend who just had his kidney removed. Was seriously the first time I have ever heard of that.
My prayers go out to you and your mom. I will see him today and ask if he has any information. Will also help look up places that could help.

Hopefully her plan has a max out of pocket like the others have stated. I find it hard to believe it would not.

Sorry to hear about your mom. What about the ACA website? That might direct you to a possible source of help.

If nothing else, call 877-336-7287, the number for the Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing in Lewiston, Maine. Anyone in any location can call, says Mary Dempsey, the center's assistant director and sister of the star of the ABC series "Grey's Anatomy." The center, founded in 2008, was inspired by Dempsey’s mother, Amanda, who has a rare form of ovarian cancer. It provides free support, education and integrative medicine to anyone affected by cancer.

Prescription drugs are not included in the max OOP...you thank your dear leader Obama for his deal with big Pharma.
Prayers sent to the OP. It's a tough spot your in with your mom. We had to put my mom in a nursing home at 58 for early onset dementia\Alzheimer's and it's costing my dad 4K a month because they don't qualify for Medicaid. He will likely have to keep working until she passes. It sucks to see your parents suffer.

As several folks have said, there are supposed to be limits on OOP costs. Should not be continual outlays after the max.
Is she Medicare?
The facility she's receiving treatment from should be able to professionally advise you on costs and coverages. I'd talk with them initially, then contact her insurance reps.
Note the name, position, and discussion date/time/content of every insurance rep you talk with. Verify what they've told you with your mom's hospital/doctor.
If necessary, contact your political representative(s).

Ok.. I'm not sure where you live, and I'm not asking that you post that on a website, so don't.
I'm not sure what all links have been placed, but:
LINK
This has a huge list of resources.
LINK
Help you requested... They specifically help with the co-pay and out of pocket.
LINK
They help with everyday bills... house payment, car, food, etc.... So, it frees up money for treatment.

Outside of whatever financial help you can get, try to be one of the strong ones emotionally in the family. Be the very best son you can be, and this will be an invaluable strength to your Mother.
My stepfather(practically my dad) passed in 2003 from lung cancer complications. I wish my relationship had been good with him my entire life with him, and not just his last few years. But I'm glad I was there and strong for us all. For him to talk with me privately about his fears and concerns, and how much of a comfort I was, that was nice.
Also, try/start staying well-informed. Doctors see that and are likely to share more with you on what they can realistically do

Is it a prescription or is it an in patient treatment?
Either way, I doubt she has an ACA plan. Probably already had one and they will have different rules depending on her plan as others have said.
He needs to check with her insurance company to see what the max OOP is.

Your link to that? Because my own prescription drugs were definitely included in my yearly max out of pocket. I pay $0 for prescriptions since my operation in early March.
