Only thing to do is constantly have reaper drones above their areas (which we already do) and hit them when they roll out launchers. Problem is that they have their whole family with 9 kids staying around the launch system. When we hit it we kill them and it is more proof that we are genocidal colonizers for the international MSM.
The real problem is Iran. Deal with Iran and the ME calms down a lot.

We don’t deploy carriers for fun. There is an economic cost to ceding that shipping channel.

The way to deal with the Houthis is to address the root cause: Iran

I think that it will take a multi pronged approach with the Houthis...
•••• Set Clear Expectations: Ensure that all Houthis understand what is expected of them in terms of behavior.
•••• Communicate Directly and Respectfully: Address the behavior directly with the Houthis in a private setting. Use clear and respectful language to explain the issue.
•••• Provide Feedback and Support: Offer constructive feedback and suggest ways the Houthis can improve. Provide resources, training, or support if necessary to help them make the required changes.
•••• Set Consequences: Make sure the Houthis understands the consequences of continued unruly behavior. This might include formal warnings, probation, or other disciplinary actions.
•••• Follow Up: Monitor the Houthis behavior over time to ensure improvement. Provide positive reinforcement when you see progress and address any recurring issues promptly.
•••• Be Consistent: Apply rules and consequences consistently to all Houthis to maintain fairness and credibility.
•••• Consider Mediation: In cases where conflict between Houthis is the root cause of unruly behavior, mediation can help resolve issues and improve working relationships.

^ this is the correct answer. Their culture respects only one thing, strength. If they sense weakness, they will exploit that weakness. If they sense strength, they’ll leave it the frick alone. And for the last three and a half years, we have shown weakness.

Do we really want to start playing the attack the power grid game…..

That's the other thing about their culture. The minute the West leaves the ME alone for good, a warlord is gonna sweep in and do all the necessary brutal killing to build a new Grand Caliphate.

More evidence that Chat GPT isn’t taking any jobs that require even a tiny level of nuanced thinking.

Where did you copy this from a school discipline manual? These are the Houthis we're talking about, no someone cutting class or fighting on school grounds.

What are the Houthis actually trying to achieve?

But, in truth, I'm sick of the US jumping into every piddly-dink little war and playing world super cop.
Maintaining safe shipping channels has allowed the US to become the world’s singular super power with the largest economy ever. I agree we shouldn’t be the worlds police, but we should own the water and air

Yemen cannot build these weapon systems domestically, meaning someone else does. Every time a Houthi fired a missile or launched a boat to attack a ship, destroy a factory that makes them. Continue to do so until every factory is wiped off the face of this earth. Publish this is what you’re going to do so the Russians and Iranians know what’s about to happen.
Eliminate their ability to fight without mindlessly destroying civilian infrastructure.

But then you’re just at war with them for a decade, and you’ll probably quit and go home before you defeat them.
The American people historically have ADHD when it comes to war. We are initially excited and all about it then we get bored and aren’t willing to take the risks and do what needs to be done to end it so we say frick it and leave.

I just think that we need to be better listeners and give the Houthis a chance. Houthis are people too.

The Saudis are the worst days fighters in the world. Bar none. They always use mercs to handle their business bc of this

If we were ever to have sound money (don't hold your breath), much of our problems in the ME would be resolved (see Petro Dollar) and "terrorists" would suddenly take a back page to the newest boogeyman to stand in the way of "our" hegemonic designs.
The way to deal with the Houthis is to address the root cause: Iran
And by "our" I mean the evil bastards who hijacked our government and our country in 1913.

quote:Yemen's official government is Sunni and aligned with the House of Saud. Houthis are Shi'a. They want control of the country because the majority of Yemenis are Shi'a.
What are the Houthis actually trying to achieve?
Keep in mind Yemen is the poorest and least educated country in the Middle East by far. These fighters are largely illiterate and very easily manipulated, which makes them even more unpredictable and dangerous.
Like most conflicts in the Middle East, the one in Yemen is not going to end any time soon. Those people have nothing to live for besides war.
