Sounds like you’d be better off having invested in an index fund, while it would be down a little from the day he took office it isn’t much. That said 0 return isn’t why I invest. frick Joe Biden

I’m 42. I don’t even look because it is pointless. I will simply continue to max my 401k, Roth, and HSA every year and hope for the best. It’s pretty much all I can do at my age.

This is the only rational strategy for someone far from retirement. Good for you

Biden is the worst fake president ever and if not then his two terms will prove that once they steal the election again. It isn't incompetence but well intentional.

Just did the math, I’m down about 7%

If I hadn’t rebalanced my 401k before Biden took office it would be closer to 30%. I thought I was gambling at the time, but it looks like it paid off for my future.

Smart move for sure, but cash doesn’t just sit there it devalues over time. I’m sure you know that but it’s for those who have less and might consider this option for an ‘eggs in one basket’ approach.

I can’t read our economic tea leaves somewhat with any accuracy right now for the first time in my life.
Tangibles are my only options.

Yeah leaving cash in a 0% checking account definitely isn't a great move, especially with massive inflation, but it beats losing value due to inflation + a 20% and growing loss in the market. Really nowhere to hide from this except maybe commodities and gold right now. I'm just staying on the sidelines for the time being and ensuring I can pay the bills until we get this administration out onto the streets where they belong.

ETA: Still maxing 401k every year. So I'm not completely on the sidelines as far as new money goes.

About 140k...and I knew it was coming. To take a quote from "Bachelor Party" ( which should give you an age indication). " Pain is such a rush"

cleaned mine out in October. It wasn’t hard to see this coming.

I’m old, so couldn’t afford to ride it out.

some of the luckiest timing I’ve ever heard of. I was at my ATH in Oct-Nov. down more than 50% since then.

Down over 300K but the home equity is sky high so it's almost a push on paper.
