How often are you confronted with people who have differing political opinions as you? I don’t mean like media personalities, I mean real people that you know

I feel pretty lucky in this area because most of my friends are pretty similar with me the most of my coworkers are pretty much the opposite so I get to deal with both sides. I definitely enjoy that because it makes me more well rounded and it’s nice to have conversations with people who are logical but I have a different opinion than me, I feel that it makes me more logical and reasonable.

I definitely see people on both sides of the political spectrum who only interact online or otherwise with people that agree with their politics and it shows as their opinions get more and more radical and out of touch

My wife's best friend is a lobbyist at the state level and tried and true democrat.

We've exchanged ideas in the past.

People should re-learn how to discourse. Remember that we all want good things for everyone that want good things for us... talking, civics, honest disagreements in approach are ok!

America is the litmus test for full scale diversity. We will either prove it can be a strength or we will continue to prove it's a long term failure.

My MIL is a die-hard Democrat/socialist. Unprompted, I hear all of the talking points anytime she's visiting(which is weekly).

If anything, mine is pretty hardcore progressive. You should see my neighborhood facebook page.

Yeah, I think anyone who lives in an urban these days, even if white & affluent, is surrounded by progressives.

I split time between Oklahoma and California. when in Oklahoma, I am in a political bubble. When in California, it is the exact opposite. Liberals everywhere even though the town I live in is one of the most conservative in LA county.

I pretty much keep to myself politically but my best friend was an Obama delegate and I am a Trump supporter. We realized about six months before the election to no longer talk to each about politics. We mostly talk about sports and fun times we had in our younger days.

I love to talk to people who have different political opinions, but I don’t usually talk about my own opinions on politics with people unless I know them extremely well.

That said-if I end up in a political conversation with someone I don’t know very well- I usually ask them a lot of questions. People on the left looove to talk about how much better they are because of their politics. So they brag about how virtuous their politics are and rarely will they ask you about yours.

You’ll never convince someone to change their political viewpoint, but if you ask them good questions you’ll at least get a better understanding of the another perspective. Plus, maybe they will change their views by recognizing the holes in their thinking (and maybe your own opinions will evolve as well).

I'm in the Seattle area so most of my opinions differ from the majority. I don't really discuss politics with people unless I know them well.

Every fricking day. I'm a staunch conservative and I live and work in Hollywood. I just keep my head down smile to myself most of the time.

The hipster millennials running the neighborhood coffee shop ask me 'how's Trump doing?' when I walk in. My wife gets pissed at ME when they do it to her.

I get hell from all sides when I talk about foreign policy, but my home county is about 2/3 Trump supporters.
