What the NFL seems to be doing more than anything is fomenting widespread disinterest

THIS

I don't care too much about the stupid political statements, I just won't watch that part of the broadcast. I played football as a kid all the way through to graduating HS, have been a huge Broncos and Razorback fan my entire life, and used to love watching the sport itself because of that.

But when you start making all these rule changes that soften the game and water down the product, as well as overly-protecting the "valuable" players, the sport itself gets hard to watch.

Then you have the diva players, coaches, and owners that have ZERO loyalty and pride in the team, city, and state they play for and only chase the almighty dollar. In the NFL it's hard to be a fan of your favorite team when the roster is constantly changing with journeymen players that only care about the biggest contracts. They have no loyalty and team pride, why should I?

That's not to mention the NFL in it's entirety becoming waaaay too commercialized.

Add the above to the players thinking their "celebrity" status somehow gives them the right to preach to us about political and racial issues, as well as the league itself, and the sport isn't so fun to watch anymore.

It's damn sure hard to stay interested and follow from year to year. I've basically tuned out on the NFL for the last 3-4 years now; tried to watch a game last season and felt like I was watching an entirely different sport than 5-10 years ago.

The marketing people, owners, and Goodell sure are making a clusterfrick out of a once-great institution.

Eh that was a little different. His political decisions don't effect the service or the chicken sandwich.

The NFL is falling all over itself to insert politics into the broadcast, the games, the commentary, the players, etc. They are making the NFL about BLM.

There's no possible way to make a Chik Fil A sandwich about homosexual rights/privileges/opinions.

If you fuse the content of the NFL with political crap, it's a different, new thing.

I wish there was a site that kept a listing of NFL and NBA sponsors.
I would definitely boycott those products.

Not a golfer. Nothing against it for you baws that are, it's just not my thing.

This situation just freed up a bunch of fall fishing weekends though. I'm kinda jazzed about that.

Yes, after decades of being a Saints and LSU fan, I can and will walk away that easily, forever. I'm already done with the NFL, and very close to being done with college sports as well.

I watch sports for sports. I don't watch it to have leftist ideologies rammed down my throat. Sports is no place for partisan politics. It's supposed to be a unifying force for Americans- whether it be all races coming together for a team, or fun rivalries based on anything but race...

But, nooooooo... that's unacceptable. Let's alienate half our base to pander to 12% of it, right? RIGHT? It's the most mind numbingly ignorant and divisive business model I've ever heard of, and I will no longer support these teams and universities.

Let them all keep catering to the 12% that's not buying TV packages, season tickets, luxury boxes, or donating. frick'em.

Watched last 5 minutes of Super Bowl Pats/Falcons, otherwise nothing since Peyton's last game. Just can't/won't watch that boring/politicized crap anymore.

I’ve had NFL season tickets for decades. Since the early 1970’s. Gave them up two years ago. Brees is a coward and I won’t watch the NFL and I’m quitting my fantasy league. I’ll watch college football. I’ll give the college kids some leeway on this issue because they’re young and dumb anyway. Probably will have to listen to the game on the radio though. Tv networks are anti American and I don’t want to be lectured to. I’ll let them spend their money bringing the game to my living room but not listen to a word they say. And I don’t watch commercials

I quit two years ago.

I don’t miss it one bit.. It’s become a terrible product.

I have been doing fantasy football last several years but not this year. So the NFL Sunday ticket subscription is getting cancelled. But I don’t think they will care much until we let a lot of sponsors know they are getting boycotted as well.

Can't say about the NFL, 'cause it kind of sucks to begin with..

But I estimate maybe .002% of the Big Talkers will follow through on their threats to stop watching college ball.

They'll be like, "Nobody knows I'm still watching if all I do is watch on t.v."

Welp, fantasy football leagues are folding, there’s one reason... would like to watch the Saints, but I’m sure there will be a heavy dose of Brees’ contrition, Michael Thomas and Kamara’s public backstabbing, and the The Most Woke One, Malcolm Jenkins.

Yeah, I can do without. Maybe all this bullshite will die out next year since the election will be over.

I’m done. The pandering is too much. Sports are a great way to get away from politics and divisiveness, but looks like it’s inevitable at this point. Good riddance. Catering to that crowd is beyond ridiculous. Drew Brees being emasculated and acting like a pathetic boot licker showed me all I needed to see.

I will. Last year I didn’t watch a single down of non-Saints football. Not one. This year, especially if they play the stupid black national anthem, I’m done. I won’t spend a dollar supporting people that clearly have no interest in my fandom

Nike is boycotting the Redskins. Does that count?
